Do you have any Mall outlet with allot of parking lots, go there in the early AM hours usually nobody around, this procedure words, you have to break a few nuts to get nut jam!
Welcome back, shocked you didn't have the infamous oil pumper when it consumes 1 qt of oil every 1500 miles also, they were notorious for cam phaser problems, were the cam position sensors really bad?
Do you trust what the steeler did, it's on top of the intake plenum on passenger side, on the throttle body take the snorkel off and look inside they sell a cleaner to clean the throttle plate and areas, as @Wild one posted here it may be a vacuum noise from the bolts being loose on the intake...
They sure did along with trying to steal your trade in, and the fact that their biggest engine was a 2.0 4 banger super coupe way under powered for the size of the car and I believe there was allot of blown molded plastic body panels, my son G/F had one w 1.5 liter that consumed large quantities...
Just to add to this post, the system has to be evacuated by a vacuum pump and the refrigerant has to be weighed and reclaimed and as said it may be contaminated from the compressor, and the accumulator/ dryer needs to be replaced, I would have a reputable A/C shop do the work.
There are 4 cams on the 3.6, Intake, exhaust on each cylinder bank, they must have reused the damaged fowlers or tappets or not replace them to damage the cam shaft, I would be document what parts were replaced post it on here for us to look at.
