P0871 is a pressure code for the valve body. This is most commonly seen in trucks that have been tuned with the line pressure turned up (usually 250psi or higher), but it has happened on rare occasion on stock trucks that have been worked pretty hard and used to tow at the limits of the truck...
IF you can find a truck with maintenance records, and IF they show that the tune is merely to delete and not a HP boost a deleted truck isn't necessarily the end of the world. They're out there if you pay attention to what you're looking for.
For example, I delete all of my trucks but never...
Go get you a Powerstroke and drive it for a year. Then report back. :)
Funny to me that someone thinks posting in a forum dedicated to a specific vehicle only to say it's garbage is going to get a bunch of people agreeing with them. This is similar to a 2 year old having a temper tantrum...
When is the last time the fuel filter was replaced? Also, are you using a Cummins (Fleetguard) or Mopar (also rebranded FG) filter? I've had issues in the past with aftermarket filters.
Doubtful. I assume this is a 68RFE.
1) As another poster said, you can't rev an ISB to 5-6k RPMs. 6k isn't even on the tach.
2) The 68RFE "slips" a bit between shifts from the factory. It's called fluid coupling and is designed to do that so as not to shock the transmission with 850 lb/ft...
Well, headroom is going to be your #1 obstacle. Air ride seats usually need a pretty tall base so you would have to find a custom seat.
That said, I know at one time Knoedler supposedly had a low profile air ride seat that was designed for a Ram but they are pricey. Since the factory seats...
Pardon my ignorance, but what is filter back? I've heard of turbo back and cat back, but never a filter back unless you're talking a DPF filter back exhaust on a diesel. Do you mean resonator back maybe?
True statement. And the main reason the Aisin is "more reliable" is simply because you can't really tune them. :) If/when you can tune them they'll start puking too. This is true with any diesel truck with an engine/trans tune.
There is a built in shift flare in the 68RFE that some don't...
Good luck.
As I said before... there is nothing wrong with the 68RFE if you use it as intended. It's built to tow. Use it, maintain it, and you're extremely unlikely to find issues. One thing to keep in mind... most people on the internet only post negative experiences. Very few positive.
If you get a 2008+ 2500 with the Cummins you'll get the 68RFE. You'll get a few naysayers with it, but typically when you see a major failure people have tuned/deleted the truck and cranked up the horsepower. It's not designed for any more horsepower/torque than what it left the factory with...
