Intermittent antifreeze smell
Had my 2018 Ram 6.4 since new, and the smell has been there since new. Never topped up the coolant.- R.D.J.

Leaky brakes, or bad axle seal?
I'm pretty certain thats a leaking wheel seal. I had to change mine at 15,000 kms. No reason I could find that they leaked, bearings were in good shape, hub nut was tight, but was leaking fluid out. Another giveaway (which is the most obvious) is the smell of used gear oil. You should smell...- R.D.J.

That definitely makes sense, and is a very good point. I would not want that space taken up by a spacer, and not have the ring gear supported by the carrier.- R.D.J.

Understood. I didn't measure it, but when I had both diff carriers beside each other on the bench, in similar fashion to your picture, I noted that they were very very similar to the naked eye. To answer a couple questions here: I did not swap my pinion gear. It had the same cast markings as the one as the power wagon. I know what you're saying on how they should be replaced in sets, but my truck has such low mileage, and so did the donor PW, I opted to use my existing pinion gear...- R.D.J.

Ok, so I have just completed this swap in the 9.25 front axle of my 2018 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi. A few things of note: I ordered my truck with the 4:10 axle ratio, and the 2018 Power Wagon donor front diff assembly obviously is 4:10 ratio as well. Thanks guys. Reason I dont swap the whole axle, is due to the fact it was in a collision, and the axle tube is bent slightly on the passenger side. Ill disassemble the PW axle and see what I find.- R.D.J.

I've searched regarding this, but cant come up with some definitive answers. I have a 2018 Ram 2500 6.4 with the 9.25" front and 11.5" rear AAM axles. 2018 Ram 2500 8.4 Uconnect Issue
I hope its correct. They replaced the radio, and the ONLY issue I've got, is my iPod Nano, which I was using in a USB port to play songs from no longer works. I dug a bit into this, and apparently its Apple not supporting the older iPods, on the newer radios. Go figure. I now just use an old...- R.D.J.

I understand, and its easy for me to say because I own a shop and do these repairs. The way I see it, id rather pay that 150/hour for a couple of hours to re bearing and set up the diff, than waste many hours changing the assembly (a used one with a big question mark on it) and have to pay a...- R.D.J.

I would find a competent axle/driveline shop and have it diagnosed, and repaired. There is absolutely no reason, why if it were simply side bearings or pinion bearings, that the whole axle assembly be replaced. Thats absurd. Well, just to update on this situation: I made a polite phone call to Chrysler of Canada, and talked to a very nice case manager. She contacted the dealer I had diagnose the problem, and after a few days, the dealer had contacted me to tell me Chrysler of Canada was "goodwill" replacing my...- R.D.J.

Hmm sounds exact same as what mine is doing, although my compass is completely incorrect in its reading as well. Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace this thing.
