    Cummins automatic trannys

    My 2015 failed at 44k. Six months out of the 5/100 warranty. $6,500 later and it was immediately sold. Never worked the truck hard. Do not ever buy an extended warranty…unless you own a Ram…then always buy it.

    Most dealers pay a monthly fee and get unlimited reports. If you have a friend that sells cars, have him run it for you.

    Save the used factory oil and filter you took off. Put back in if you have a problem. Don’t put brand new oil in a failed motor and then take it to the dealer for repair.

    The last three times I’ve traded in diesels here in NY (different dealers) I’ve had to sign a statement that all of the original emissions equipment was intact and no modifications have been made. That’s so they can come after you for the cost of restoring to original if it’s discovered after...

    Looking at buying but have a concern.

    Ram and automatic transmissions have always been a bad combo. Has bitten me three times, and my trucks aren’t worked very hard at all. On the ‘04 look into the reinforcing plate for the valve bodies/solenoids. Under $100 and will save you a $6k transmission. I learned the hard way.

    The Demon 170 is going for $200k plus buyer’s premium at the various collector auctions. Why shouldn’t the dealer sell it for a $100k markup? He has every right to make that profit on a limited edition vehicle.

    6.4 MPGs

    Every Ram I’ve ever owned (8) always showed 2-3 mpg higher on the display than the hand calculation.

    Transmission Failure - Denied Warranty Claim - Help!

    If it is possible for them to tell from sensors that a truck was overloaded, or was trying to pull too heavy a load, those same sensors should have prevented the truck from attempting either act in the first place.

    I’ve never accepted free oil changes. I’ll do it myself and pre fill the filter every time. Think the guys doing the free oil changes do this? Think they really changed the oil at all?

    Pricing is out of control

    Agree that pricing on trucks is nuts. My wife’s new 2023 Tahoe, exact same vehicle and options as her 2018 Tahoe, stickered for $6,500 more. Less than 10% increase (did not get near the same discount off of sticker however). I don’t think that’s bad, and that’s what trucks should have gone...
