I've used both. Function wise, they are the same. Windows version is faster, that is because I'm using it on a Surface.
MX+ software also works on Windows devices. I also have HP Tuner software on it.

If you don't have android phone, then notebook is good option.
So did you have to buy both android & windows or does it allow multiple devices on a single purchase?

You have to pick which version, Android or PC based.
So if you want both you pay double? Reason I ask is a lot of software programs allow install on like 3 devices. Microsoft office allowed multiple installs.

When I purchased awhile back (year or so ago), there was a discount you could get for buying both windows and andriod but if I recall correctly you had to reach out to AlphaOBD to get it. As far as Andriod goes, I've only purchased one time and have on my cell as well as my andriod tablet with no issue so far.

Every vendor decides how they want to do their licensing models, and whether or not to let you move between platforms (windows/andriod/apple/etc) So there is no set rule as each vendor can do what they want.

I paid twice. As JW2 mentioned above, there is discount if you wanted both.

Note: The Android and PC versions are sold separately. There is discount for the users of the full Android or PC versions for the purchase of the other version, for the details please contact [email protected].

When I upgraded my surface, I had to email him to move it to new machine. It's not locked to VIN. So far anyways, no upgrade fees.

Yes, I changed my phone last year and I moved it to the new phone, no issue. As for locking it's probably uses email to id you as a valid purchaser.

Hi everyone! I'm so glad I found this forum and to be a part of it. I found out about this forum and the Alpha OBD program while researching OBDII readers on Amazon for my daughter's 2011 Honda CRV to help with some issue with it. Saw someone's comments in the reviews and they mentioned both the AlphaOBD program and the RamForum having tons in information on how to use the program and how they were able to change and activate various things for their Ram. After a lot of investigating both AlphaOBD and the forum, here I am. Purchased the Windows version of Alpha. Following instructions I have found here in the forum from lots of you, I was able to install the new tow mirrors and activate the turn signals in them, the puddle lights/mirror approach lights and was able to turn on the tilt mirror in reverse adjustment. I've also activated the Global up and down windows feature, although like most everyone else, the windows go down just fine, but won't go back up (no biggie though). A few other things I have done (all of them the already tested features from here in the forum) is the front fog lamp dropouts and I have enabled all the settings in the BCM to activate the remote start. I also found a thread here that walked me through how to pull the 4 digit code without having to go to the dealer and possibly have to have a confrontation to get it. Alpha now lets you pull the code right from the trucks RFHub (saved me a trip to the dealer - Yay me!). I have also set the driver and passenger memory mirror present settings, but have not tested those yet. I also have not finished trying to activate the remote start portion on the actual fob yet, but I have found the instructions for it and will be trying that tomorrow and then testing to see if it works.

I have a 2014 1500 5.7 tradesman crew cab.

My question for anyone that can offer any assistance is this, is their any special equipment I need to purchase and install on my '14 Ram to make the remote start work or will just completing the programming for the fob through the RFHUB in Alpha be enough to make it work?

Just curious since I have seen several comments about people needing to purchase certain things to make their remote start work, but I think most of that is referring to the 2018's and up models.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have both the windows version and android version. The problem I have is the windows version is on my shop laptop which I do purge periodically. Each time I purge it I have to email AlfaOBD to get a new registration code to activate the software again.

I keep an old android phone around and tend to go to that more often than the windows version because I don't have to go through the registration delay and last time I tried I can just load it on any android phone as long as I log into the google store with my account.

Merci
If you can't be bothered posting the google translated version I am not doing it for you. If you want an answer it is far more likely to happen if you post it in English. I presume you can read english or you wouldn't have got this far down this thread.

Yes you need a security bypass cable. The one from Kaodtech works well and installs fairly easily. The MX+ will let you read a whole lot of stuff but if you want to change anything you need the security bypass cable.
