The back-up camera on my 2018 Laramie has had a few instances of wierd color shift - but it always recovered. Yesterday the picture was dark and ghosty to the point of being unusable. This made hooking up a trailer solo a LOT harder than normal. I feared a new camera or radio was on my horizon.

I Googled, and I found several links, here's the one I liked best: Video 1 but the second one is from someone whose dealer couldn't seem to fix it Video 2

I tested my camera by removing both connectors and reconnecting them - camera was back to 'like new' ! I then bought a can of DeoxIT D5 from my local Guitar Center franchise - yup, the guys and gals with crackle in their amps or guitars use this on the potentiometer volume controls, and the better contact gets rid of the crackle! I think WD40 or CRC Contact Cleaner could work too, but the DeoxIT claims to have ingredients to dissolve off the metal oxides from the surface and prevent new corrosion. I added silicone dielctric grease to help the O-ring seals prevent reoccurance.

Not my original idea, but one I thought should be shared !

Adding it to my Amazon cart for a rainy day! Thanks for the info!

WD40 works, but it doesn't last. Deoxit is far superior, IMO.

Deoxit is the best stuff ever. Kinda pricey but worth the $$$.
