Straight 6 engines have several distinct advantages over v8 or v6 engines. Low rpm torque is one. My old 89 Ford straight 6, 300 manual, could tow amazingly well. I worked it to death, but the engine was never an issue.
I gave it to my brother and bought a new 96 ram with the small v8...
Whether you set the ebrake or it is activating every time you put it in park, it will automatically release if you put it in gear… with your seatbelt on…
You sound like a fun guy to hang around with. I grew up in the country and hung out with some truck pulling maniacs for a few years. I even worked for one of them in their mechanic shop for a couple of years. Not wrenching, but doing everything else…. You remind me of those guys. Keep racing!
I know that the whole idea of lifetime transmission fluid seems rather shady, and that zf actually recommends that it is changed at a certain number of miles, but I am also wondering whether transmissions fail in the new 8 speeds?
I’m not trying to troll or discount anybody’s extra effort to...
I would not be afraid of the hurricane. I just bought a 22 hemi so unless I crash it, they will be old engines by the time I’m looking. The RamCharger has my attention now too.
My 2 friends that have bought Wagoneers are in love with the engine. I wouldn’t worry about it. Every engine is an electronic nightmare. Get a good extended warranty and keep up on the maintenance. Enjoy the new truck. I just wish it sounded like a hemi!
I agree. My last ram got oversized heavy tires. It was the old 4.7 in a work truck, st. Between the engine and the transmission, it wrecked what little pep that truck had. I still abused it for 10 years and loved it till the day I traded it in.
This time I bought a Laramie that I loved...
I believe the part that you are worried about is the perforated real leather for the ventilated seats.
The rest of the seats are pleather I believe.
My 22 Laramie has looked similar and has not had any issue. I love the seats…. Easy to clean and comfortable. Plus, the dash doesn’t seem...
5th gen is substantially better than my 4th gen.
Ride quality, steering, brakes are huge, interior is nicer, and it is much quieter.
Get an extended warranty if you are worried about costs to fix the gadgets.
Every truck is an electronic nightmare anymore. It will only get worse.
I buy 89 octane. I was running 87 in the winter during the first couple of months after I bought it, but now it’s only 89 all year round.
It’s not a lot more. The manual recommends it. The engineers must’ve thought it was important enough to put the recommendation in the manual. I might...
