    Probably because the ground runs back through the Anti-lock brake system module. Note: I don't know if this applies 100% to your Year/Model, but the diagram may help... note that it's not a true ground - it's a Wheel Speed Sensor (-) wire... This means that the ABS Module probably monitors it...

    Changed the oil, oil filter, and cabin air filter in my truck, and did the same with my wife's Jeep and changed her engine air filter as well. Tomorrow or Monday, I'll rotate the tires on both vehicles, and clean my K&N air filter.

    Thanks for providing valuable feedback. Chances are, next time I'm looking for a truck I'll wind up buying either a 2500 (as they apparently still have a V8 option) or getting a used 2024 or earlier 1500 with a V8.
