    New I-6 info...

You think the 1500 series trucks from Ford, GM, Toyota, and Ram are designed to the needs of the European market? And you believe American companies are slow and deliberate in their assessment of new products compared to the rest of the world? LOL they don’t think beyond the next quarterly...

E88 gasoline also known as E15, at 70 cents less per gal

@kurek , yeah just Google search “leaded gasoline effects”.

Optimize for what? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, there are always competing goals in the real world. It’s your view (apparently) that a turbo GDI is extreme. Not in my view, having owned a few. It’s hardly a Formula 1 engine. The technology is mainstream and I’ve personally owned and...

Well, they don’t make them like the slant 6 anymore either. That doesn’t mean I want to ever drive one of those dogs again. They were indestructible because they made about as much power as my lawnmower. ;)

2009 6.7 Diesel Ignition Key in Start Position for Extended Periods?

Pretty sure you mean RUN not start. It’s no big deal. The heater grid times out and will not come on until you cycle the key again.

Check out Project Farm on YouTube. He tested a bunch of them.

E88 gasoline also known as E15, at 70 cents less per gal

I expect the differences between 87/E10, 88/E15, and 89/E10 are so slight as to be imperceptible to most drivers. I’ve run all 3 at various times in the Wagon -and the occasion 91 or 93- and whatever changes in performance exist are overshadowed by other variables like elevation change, traffic...

Did you buy any Black Friday deals for your truck?

I’m steadfastly resisting the impulse to shop for a new truck. ;)

Howy - Looking for 2025 Ramcharger Info, Stopping by...

@BossHogg I agree with you on the conversion losses. Most likely the writers have incomplete information or understanding. The state of journalism today is appalling as well. Just yesterday I read an article where contradictory statements were made, in two adjacent paragraphs. Apparently proof...

And maybe how to delete them? Perhaps I’m stupid, but I wanted to remove one of mine a while back and couldn’t figure it out.

Rear Locker Disengage at 30mph in 2wd

@crash68 I believe you are correct with respect to most HD rams, I understand they dropped the helical design a few years back in favor of clutches. :( The PW in recent years uses the TracRite GTL...

Rear Locker Disengage at 30mph in 2wd

I hear you. A Rotopax for a PW is like offering a cocktail weeny to a linebacker.

Some gain in efficiency insofar as the ICE fuel use should result from being able to run at a fixed RPM and load where BSFC is optimal. Rather than variable RPM and torque requirements of matching the load at the wheels. That’s what’s caused the growth of transmission speeds in conventional cars...

Rear Locker Disengage at 30mph in 2wd

You do know it has also a helical posi in the rear similar to the TruTrac? I agree with you, I hate the nannies, I wish the factory would stop trying to second guess what we should do. That said, I’ve never experienced any one wheel slipping in the rear of a (modern) PW on sand and such...

tire size change vs rpm change

I’m curious, do you mean tire sizes are constrained to +/- 4% from OEM, or speedometer accuracy must be within 4%? Or that the Mounties give you 4% of grace on speed enforcement? Not that any of those things ever mattered to me. ;)

A new Gremlin in 12” screen

Well, if that’s all it takes, I was fooled by some website into a bunch of time wasting nonsense. Their procedure involved turning the ignition on and off, opening the door and waiting 30 seconds, and finally doing the two button press. Maybe all that preamble was someone’s idea of a joke. Or...

A new Gremlin in 12” screen

So this morning I’m greeted with the screen having lost its ability to control HVAC properly. No controls for the dual zone auto, just one sliding temperature bar on the left in place of the numerical temperature setting. Picture coming below. It blows hot out the passenger vent and cold on the...

    Strange Starting problem

In older vehicles, a low battery would give you a slow crank. Newer computer controlled ones won’t do that, because as soon as it tries, the voltage drops too low and the computer dies. The computer is more voltage sensitive than the starter motor.

Are dealer oil changes required for warranty?

Not required. Around here, the dealers often run specials or mail out coupons for oil changes cheaper than some independent shops. Especially if you’ve been there and they have you on their mailing list. It doesn’t hurt to have an established relationship with them if it comes to needing...

    Gas additive for diesel engine

Welcome to the forum! If you have a V6 cummings, it absolutely needs gas additive. ^^^ That is not a serious reply, for reasons that will soon be apparent. Diesel today is more refined than ever, and no additions are needed.

    VVT Solenoid Metal Flakes

I surmise it’s the filter bypass valve burping some oil around the filter element. Either because of using a filter to the point it’s saturated, or because the oil is too thick at cold starts.

    New I-6 info...

@CMV157 , the 4 cylinder version of the hurricane was introduced in 2018 with the Wrangler JL. I’ve had one. Zero engine issues. In general owners don’t report many problems. (Aside from the electrical gremlins that seem to be featured in every FCA product) No problem at all motivating a 6,000#...
