I made this tow bar awile back because i couldnt bring myself to pay $160 plus shipping for a factory one... but it wont work with my rally bar and i really dont need it because i dont offroad.
It is made out of a 4" wide by 1/2" thick steel plate, i welded on 10,000lb D-rings and ground the edges so it would fit behind the insert.
I am by no means a professional welder but i think the welds loop pretty good. I used a small 110v flux core welder, beveled the edges of the loops, and grooved the plate to get max penetration :********:. they are sturdy. the only issue is that my ******* didnt have one side tacked enough on one of the loops before i ran a bead on the opposite side, and it pulled it- so its a little crooked (see pics).
I am NOT responsible for the strength of these things- look at the welds- if you dont think theyre good enough then dont buy them (unless you are going for looks). if one pops off and hits your buddy in the nuts, dont come crying to me :Grenade:.
I'm looking for $100 shipped to the continental US. I'll even throw in the plastic insert if it doesnt jack up the shipping to much.
