Was looking for a clean way to mount our mountain bikes without using the hitch since I'm frequently towing as well. Seen many different setups, but here's my interpretation on an above bed bike mount. Used all Yakima parts, but I'm sure any of the popular brands would accomplish the same thing. Mounted 60" rails first and then used 78" crossbars on their tower kit. Not the cheapest way to transport bikes, but much easier than trying to load two of them in a bed with the cover on. Still need to cut the crossbars down a bit, but otherwise it's good and I can still open the rear tonneau cover panel.

Parts list:
Yakima Control Tower Tracks with Bolts (60-Inch): 8001135

Yakima Products Round Crossbars (78 inch)

Yakima Rack Kit for track mounted racks - 4 Control Towers, 4 Landing Pads #1, 4 End caps, 4 Core Locks, & 2 Keys. Round Crossbars and Tracks required (sold separately): 709832096457

Yakima FrontLoader Rooftop Bike Rack: 8002103

I also have a roof rack which I mount between the two bikes when extra space is needed.

Yakima LoadWarrior Rooftop Cargo Basket: 8007070

I was just ordering the same tracks and bars for my truck... I'm planning to equip a cargo basket. Looks awesome!

By the way, did you bolt the tracks to the plastic bed caps or run them through the sheet metal?

Thanks. I ran screws through both the plastic cap and sheet metal. Right now it seems very secure, but if it ever works loose I'll use some rivet nuts in the sheet metal instead. I also ordered a cargo basket to go in between the two bikes when we're traveling.
