Dang Fords

I was minding my own business driving home from work yesterday when a Ford pickup pulling a 12 foot box trailer in the lane to the left of me decided he would rather be in my lane. Driver of the Ford ended up with a ticket for his rude behavior.

Now I have to find time to deal with the body shop and insurance adjuster. Ohh, in trying to avoid him both my right hand wheels scrapped the curb.

Since he was pulling a trailer, he was probably using the trailer knob to turn with.

Must be the week for Ford drivers. Almost t-boned an F150 a couple days ago when he turned in front of me while I was half way through the intersection. Glad everyone came out alive and hope you have an easy repair process.

Would the running boards saved you if you had them? Just curious. Sorry about this incident... Those are always pain in the ass...

To the OP sorry about your close encounter. It'll be frustrating for a while until you get your truck back--since the FURD is at fault make them get you a rental and even more important, do not let them put a door made in Taiwan on your RAM--those b'tards stamp Taiwan on the door in the sill and any future buyer will know, even without carfax, that you were in a wreck.

Boards may have actually done more damage considering the mount points. As much as it sucks balls at least this is just cosmetic.

Once the police accident report is available (probably March 14th) I will be able to provide to my carrier so they can subrogate against the other drivers coverage for the cost of the repair so my deductible wont apply. Also, my coverage includes rental coverage for the time my truck will be in the shop, although I just have a Durango sitting unused so would probably just use it instead of driving some compact rental car.

The damage I previously spoke about to the wheels on the right side hitting the curb is fairly minor, but since they are black express I hope they can do a nice repair job.

At a younger time in my life I might had gone off on the other guy for his stupidity, but now that I'm an old fart I was satisfied watching the Officer write up a ticket and even more satisfied watching the driver sign it

And Pippin is correct, running boards would have been worse, plus I'm not a running board type of guy, I like seeing my family have to climb in. I actually chuckle inside every time my 5'3" mother in law has gotten in

Well, I finally got around to stopping at the body shop for an estimate for my insurance carrier. Grand total comes to $2,923.45. That includes a new outer skin on the back door and them pulling off trim and weather striping so the paint looks factory done if looked at closely. This place has a great reputation for doing things right. They are scheduling it for 8 days to complete so instead going for some compact rental I will just use my 2003 Durango that just sits in front of my house except for once a week or two when I take it for a drive.

These Ford drivers now days, they need to get a clue.

Also, his insurance should cover it all for you, without needing to go through your insurance. I got rear ended the other week, traded info with the guy. His insurance, State Farm, called me the next morning to set everything up.

I ended up taking it into one of the State Farm certified repair shops. (Place I would have taken it anyway) They handled the whole thing and I didn't have to touch anything, just had to sign for the rental from Hertz and go.

$0 cost to me except my two hours of time, all combined.

It has been my experience that it is a better idea to take advantage of the rental car. Every day they waste dealing with the damage, they're paying for that rental car and it's adding to the final price tag. It is your little bit of leverage, don't relinquish that.

Picked up truck this morning from body shop. Came out very nice. They also had the one wheel redone that suffered curb rash from the accident and although already a bit dirty in the picture came out great. On the way out their door I thanked them for a excellent job but I did hope I would never have to use their services again.
