    Oil Filter Thread

OK, so a little back-story. From 07/2017 and 22,000 miles when I bought my 2014, every OCI was handled by the dealer at around 7,000 - 9,000 miles, using whatever bulk oil they had on hand plus a basic Mopar filter. I was running this as my work commuter doing a minimum 80 miles/day from 2017...

Yep, but routing those "emissions" from the PCV Valve through the intake and back to the combustion chamber is a chance for it to be "cleaned" by the catalytic converter before being released. It's all about the "clean air". The catch can gathers those same emissions, and now what? As for me...

No, and I'd like to. I read that adding a catch can is modifying the emissions system of the vehicle and a violation of fed law. Here's the catch. Where I live in Pennsylvania our vehicles must be inspected for both "safety" and "emissions", every. single. year. Most likely I would have to...

    Oil Filter Thread

I'm currently running PUP 5w-20 and RP 20-820, I'm planning my next OCI around mid-June, maybe 1 month from now. I'll install the PBL 24651 and Red Line 5w-30 when I do. I'm not sure sure what I can report, I'm not having any issues currently except that my oil turns coal black within about...

    Synthetic Oil

Don't know if this will help, but when I prime a filter I fill it pretty quick just to get the center column filled, then watch the level drop as the oil works it's way through the media. This often drops the level to below 1/2 full. I will usually bring the level back up to about 3/4 full but...

    Synthetic Oil

My wife drives about 1500 miles/year since retired. Every year when the state requires both a safety and emissions inspection I also have the oil/filter changed and tires rotated, all by the same shop, all on the same day. Her dealer uses either Amsoil or Total, both are full synthetic, and a...

Sharing the new truck - 2023 Laramie Sport RWD

Very nice truck! I doubt you'll get much snow for those Falkens but mine have been awesome in all weather. The rears will only break free if I really work at it but the fronts have yet to lose it rain or shine, braking or on turns. I've had them since 07/2023, about 5,000 miles on them so...

    Oil Filter Thread

After seeing the recently posted YT video comparing oil filter performance I ordered 2 Purolator Boss "oversize" filters comparable to the Royal Purple 20-820. Purolator PBL24651. I currently have PUP 5w-20 and the 20-820 filter in my 5.7L with an OCI due soon. Might try the Purolator this...

    Hello From PA

Welcome from PA, about 90 minutes west of you and retired. Hope you enjoy your truck and if you don't there are quite a few very knowledgeable people here. I'm not one of them :Big Laugh:

    Synthetic Oil

Probably still is. When I see the word "case" being used I automatically think of more items than the 6 I bought. Your 12 sounds more like a "case" quantity. Admittedly even Amazon used the term "6 pack" instead of case or even carton.

    Synthetic Oil

I'm not sure if I got a "case" or a "carton", but the Red Line 5w-30 I bought through Amazon was 6 quarts that came in a Red Line sealed and taped box. I also bought a 2-pack to have 8 quarts on hand. Looks like Amazon just calls it a 6 pack...

    Engine bay detail

I did exactly that, after 10 years and 107,000 miles she was looking dusty. I used the low pressure green tire cleaner solution, let it sit a minute, then the foaming brush on the high spots, then a low pressure rinse. Avoided the battery cover and hood "carpet". All done while idling. I...

    Firestone Destination ls3 Tires

I'm 67 and never once owned any set of Firestone tires, but, I can't recall anyone ever saying anything bad about the Destination Series, on any forum, going back decades. Something to be said for that I guess!
