Considering a new truck
I faced the same dilemma recently. I was going to move up to a 2500 (a Power Wagon to be specific) but ultimately decided on sticking with another half-ton. It's all fun and games until the Cybertruck battery gets a 0.5"-1" dent and then it'll be totaled out. My insurance company didn't want to replace my Tesla 3 battery because it was about a $26K repair bill. They totaled it out solely due to battery damage.- leftchevybehind

I'm not saying it doesn't work, because workarounds keep old legacy architecture operationally stable in the IT space, I know the truck will do what you need it too by hiding one of its gears, but I personally wouldn't flash, I'd re-gear and recalibrate.
