Now selling a Fake OBD2 port harness HERE for those interested in adding another theft deterrent layer to their overall plan.
What is an OBD2 port?
It's the connector that your repair shops and DIY'ers use to connect into your vehicles ECU/ECM. You can run diagnostics, read error codes, activate tests, etc depending on the level of equipment you are connecting into it. It's also where car thieves have been plugging in their devices and adding another key FOB to your vehicle, so they can drive it away without the need of your key FOB. Most vehicles have one located down in the floor board of where the driver sits. Looks like this (above the light):
How does this Fake OBD2 harness work?
You pop out your live/real OBD2 port and snap this one in its place. Then route the 3ft black harness taped harness lead up into your dash from underneath while moving your live/real OBD2 port up out of view as well. When the thief now connects to your Fake OBD2 port(now sitting where the real live OBD2 connector used to be)......nothing is available to them because your Fake OBD2 harness isn't connected to anything. More time wasted for the thief! Their theft script to get your car is now not working! So two options, dig into why (even more time).....or get outa there! We can all debate which will happen, but the longer it takes to steal your car, the bigger the chance there is for them to get caught! That is for sure! And security is just like layers of an onion. The fewer layers you have, the higher your risk is.
We each have to decide what steps we're going to take to ensure our vehicles will be where we left them, and not one single measure of deterrence is a be all - end all solution. So if this is something of interest please check it out HERE.
As always, if you have any questions please reach out either via PM here on this site, or via email at: [email protected] Would be glad to help you any way I can.
Thanks all!
