Not that it justifies the absurd pricing, but the Wagoneer is body on frame construction, totally different than the unibody GC.

Stellantis has totally destroyed the value equation for all the Mopar brands. It's looking pretty ugly.

Went to the Milton, FL Dodge, Ram, Jeep dealership where I got my current Ram two years ago and picked up a new Grand Cherokee Summit today. Have to ship it in from Louisianna and pick it up on Monday. I "built" one online, walked in to the dealership and said "I want this for this price". The guy found one and came in about $2K under what I was expecting. They took my current Grand Cherokee and gave me almost full Kelly Bluebook private party sales price. Came out around $2K under what I expected to pay. I was prepared for a fight, but they were totally no-stress, no pressure.

Sandy Sansing Milton is a great dealership. Very happy with the deal.

absurd pricing

When I bought my 2015 it was with the intention of replacing it after the 8-year Maxcare expired. When I went out looking for a replacement I was beyond shocked at the pricing of a new 3500 Cummins Longhorn, over $100K. I even considered the value of my 2015, at the time, it was in the mid $50K range of value. Still, I'm not going to pay that much to replace a truck that is working (38,000 miles on it), I'll self-insure.

I've seen several YT videos predicting Stellantis is going down in some form but I don't know. A friend of my son works security at the world headquarters in Auburn Hills, he says the number of vehicles entering and exiting each day has had a significant drop.

I do know a new RAM 3500 is not in my future, at least not a RAM, not with this pricing.

We just bought a '24 GC 4xe. I really didn't need another hybrid. (We were trading in a '21 Pacifica hybrid.) But the incentives were crazy. 15k+ off, so we got it. My wife loves it and the fact that she puts gas in it maybe once a month isn't bad either.

And I've been watching all the news about Stellantis too. Let's see where the Mopar brands go in the next couple of years. It's going to be a rough ride.

2025 Ram 1500s (5th gens) are made in Sterling Heights, MI. Ram 1500 Classics (4th gens) are made at the Mound Road plant in Michigan, and in Mexico.

Probably the new Grand Wagoneer. Basically a giant, stretched out Grand Cherokee. I guess to compete with the Suburban. They start at $91K. There's a Grand Wagoneer "Series III Obsidian" that starts at $117K. I speck'd one out at over $124K! Just stupid. The most expensive Suburban I could "build" on their website was $95K.
TRX money there, if U can find one

Buy vintage, my antique 97 Jeep TJ.

I used to have one of those. Mine was dark green with tan interior. Over the years I've owned 3 Wranglers, 1 Cherokee, and now 4 Grand Cherokees. Never had a single problem with any of them other than an engine light caused by the gas-cap....which is a known Jeep issue.

i thought i just read in THIS forum that Stellantis is laying off a lot of people and moving operations to mexico?

Sometimes people misread things, or hear/read misinformation, or jump to conclusions, especially since many Mopar people suffer more from self loathing and suspicion. In the included link there is a mention of "reduce(ing) the North American footprint," but there's no mention of moving anything to Mexico, a concept that would be repugnant to the UAW.

My understanding is "closures" will affect mostly the Mopar distribution system and close currently underutilized assembly plants, and possibly reopen a current Illinois assembly plant.

"These facilities encompass the Tipton Transmission Plant in Indiana, the partially decommissioned Trenton Engine Complex, the already idled Mount Elliott Tool & Die in Michigan, and the idled Belvidere Assembly plant.

Additionally, the proposal encompasses a Detroit warehouse, office space, and Stellantis' sprawling 500-acre North American headquarters and technology center in metro Detroit."

If you look at a 2025 Ram 1500 Moroney you will see they are still manufactured at Sterling Heights. Moving production to another facility is a monumental task and could cause a serious disruption, which is why in the past a line is opened up in the other plant first before the switch over.

2015.
- Purchased my first Ram a Laramie. $10K+ under Ford & GM. Far better equipped. Better ride. Easy decision.

2024.
- My guesstimate. Fed illogical hardcore push for EVs, at the expense of ICE sales a huge problem.
- Interest rates stoopid high.
- Compounding, Stellantis pricing is spiraling. Killing sales.
- I'll Not buy an EV, 4xe or whatever they are.

I would expect sales to slow down due to the new I6 turbo. I figure many don't want to gamble on the new engine. Also expect sales to slow even more after people buy up the remaining '24's.
I wonder if they will keep making the classic, TONS of people would flock to those at that point for the HEMI if still in them.

Hard to say, although someone at my dealership said 2024 was the last year for 4th gens.

Then again sales is important and tooling has long been amortized and as long as tooling corrections and/or repairs are not too expensive, of course that would also be dependent on the available power plants. With the 5.7 going away they would need to use the PentaStar of redesign for the I-6, which is doubtful.

my comment was based on the union contract, where Stellantis had already moved it's Belvidere production to Mexico, and the union was concerned the Ram 1500 would be relocated there as well....according to the union back in 2023.

That’s what I am waiting to see, if them killing off the hemi is going to be the end of the classic. Will make me want to keep mine more, she’s been a little problematic since new but every vehicle produced these days is pretty much a crap shoot

With the Gov push for EVs, manufacturers are damned if they do, damned if they dont.

A local older mall which isn't doing well is now storing Mazdas and Mitsubishi in the parking lot because the dealership lots and their overflow lots are full. They installed flood lights, 360 cameras and police lights around the area with the cars.

When I get a garage/shop built, a TJ, preferably LJ, will be on my radar.
We're in the middle of that project right now. A $65k 2 car/room above garage grew to $95k with other "incidentals" we didn't anticipate. lol
What'cha gonna do, can't take it with you.
