so yeah i live in the rust belt and looking to de-rust my ram 1500 yet another time, every summer i sand paint and bondo areas as needed BLACK SO EASY TO TOUCH UP , but im noticing when it rains or condensation happens the areas i know are bad weep water or small wet spots? before i paint again what should i do to dry these areas up, mostly rocker panels and a couple spots on the wheel wells.

do you drill weep holes>?

If there's already rust showing on the outside, it's too late. That rust needs cut out and new metal put in.

Everything rots from the inside first, you gotta treat it with an oil based undercoating of some kind. There are many suitable options like Wool Wax, Fluid Film, Krown, NH Oil etc.

Depending on the severity of rust, you may be able to replace the rockers and save the rest with oil for a while. Best option is to oil as early in a vehicles life as possible.

There are some good rust preventatives, the one i use is Por 15, i also use Metal blast ( only converts existing rust).
