I’m old enough that to have the opinion that real cars and trucks have chrome bumpers. Alas, that is no longer realistic. What I hate even worse than painted front ends is chromed plastic. At least with paint I can put PPF on it to somewhat protect it. But chromed plastic, it just gets eat up with pecks, gouges and cracks. Can’t wait to see how much it takes to replace some of that chromed plastic grill surround after a few years.

If something needs to washed to look good, that is OK
If it has to be washed & then Polished, it belongs to someone else !!

You want to see chrome, follow a milk tanker !

The "chrome" I see nowadays is typically a metalized plastic foil tape that starts to bubble after a few years, or plastic grills, etc. I like the look of my 2018 with chrome bumpers. I prefer metal bumpers over plastic.

Most of the chrome on the trucks these days is just coated plastic anyway. The grills, grill inserts, door handles, mirror covers, even the chrome wheels…are just plastic. About the only thing chrome in the recent past is the actual bumpers. They might as well just make a big plastic cover for the bumpers which is chrome too, for the guys that still want chrome.

One BEAUTIFUL thing about America is that we have choices on almost everything. When it comes to chrome, I absolutely love it, but only when it's NOT overdone. Plus, as others keep saying, chrome is durable. Personally, I think the all-black look is horrid, but that means I'm 'old', haha.

I don't really understand the corporate decision to eliminate it. There are environmentally safe ways to handle it. Perhaps they're just trying to save a few bucks (my suspicion) versus saving the planet.

The last truck I had with a lot of chrome was my 2011 F150. It does take a beating pretty well, doesn't show scratches from road debris as much. So there's that. Though now it's just an outdated look. If you like it, you can still get one like mine with some 'shiny' stuff. My 2023 has shiny wheels and logos. I didn't want the chrome bumpers or grille though.

Probably end up replacing the wheels with bronze color. Also considering Rebel take offs, or just the night edition version of what i have.

It is a mess to get rid of the chemicals and it is a serious carcinogen to the workers.
What are talking about, the process? Paint's just as carcinogenic if inhaled too.
Not like a workers not gonna wear protection while working with it.
Stupid decision still.

Chevy sales guy said the easiest way to tell the age of a vette buyer is what wheels they pick...Young guys pick black, older guys pick chrome. If that's true, chrome is just dying with us.
Yeah, what does a Chevy sales guy know? :p

I'm not a vette buyer and never will be. But I am an older guy. My take on pretty much all cars is that the more chrome the better on older cars and trucks. Some time around the late 80's/early 90's that changed, and less chrome looked better. With current designs I prefer no chrome. It's true that painted bumpers show abuse a lot more, but I've found that if you hang back from cars you're following that abuse is reduced significantly. You can never eliminate it this way because of cars traveling in the opposite direction, or when you're passed by faster drivers. But the front bumper on our 2020 Limited still looks pretty good, ignoring where some "thoughtful" co-worker decided to remove our front license plate recently by backing into the front bumper. And not say anything about it.

For me, I like both chrome and blacked out. But too much chrome doesn't look good. My current truck has the right amount of chrome. Meanwhile the Laramie's and Limited's have too much chrome for my taste. But I also loved the look of my '19 Express. It was more sporty where my '22 is more classy. At least that's the way I see it. Both look good, depends on which direction you're taking the truck. BTW... I'm 54.

Unless it's Lovebug season...Then you best draft them on the interstate...Less splatter on you, more on them
Lovebug season? I can't say I've ever experienced that. But I have heard it can be brutal.

When I was in my 20's I thought 50 was ancient. I sailed past that over 10 years ago. Wouldn't mind being 54 again LOL.

I've never liked chrome on a pick up.

The roots of a PU is in work.

A work truck doesn't need to be tarted up.

I love my chrome power wagon. When i went to order one in 2016 they discontinued the laramie and only offered the blacked out version. I dont care for all the black myself. So i found a new leftover ‘16 laramie pw on the lot. I just turned 43.

I'm a fan of both, whether it's a chrome package or blackout, or polished wheels vs black. I've seen them trimmed out either way and I think they look great. To each their own. I'm a gen X'er so I guess you can say I'm middle aged and can appreciate both styles. But what I'm not a fan of is eliminating our choices, which seems to be happening a lot these days.
