Trailer brake disconnected warning while nothing hooked up

2011 3500 i keep getting a trailer disconnected warning when there is nothing hooked up and it seems to be getting more frequent . I never get the warning when hooked up to my fifth wheel any suggestions as to what I could check . A new module is fairly expensive to be changing

Check all wiring. Sounds like you've got a short that makes your truck believe you have a trailer attached, then goes away, thus throwing the warning.

The plug behind the bumper dosent have any dialectic grease in it.

Clean it out and grease it. It fixed my issue on mine

Did you ever get this to stop? Yesterday mine started throwing the error every time I press my break. I haven't had a trailer hooked up for more than 2 weeks.
