I’ve been looking through here for the answer but couldn’t find it, so here I am. I’m thinking about putting in a 180 thermostat, I do tow during the summer and fall. I guess I’m concerned about the winter , it gets into the high teens, low 20s around here. How is the 180 going to affect the truck in the winter. No Mods to the engine. Do you guys think it will throw any codes or any other issues I may have. Thanks, any input would be appreciated

Why not swap between summer and winter, run the 180 during the summer, and stick the original 203 back in for the winter.
It's not like a thermostat swap is a permement or hard mod,and it gives you a chance to refresh the anti-freeze .

I feel there’s mixed reasoning for the 180° tstat.

For the performance guys (I differ to Wild one et. al) I believe there’s tuning benefits to having a 180° tstat.

For a stock tuned truck towing, I believe an upgraded radiator is the better choice for increased cooling capacity. A 180° tstat will not stop a truck that’s towing (consistent load under weight) from ‘overheating’ (250°+).

I ended up throwing in the 190 thermostat this morning. We will see how it goes!
Sounds like a safe play all the way around to be honest, as long as you are good in summer, you will be good in winter as well. 180's usually work from guys on the board, but it is the lowest that will work without a tune, so 190 was the safe smart move, enjoy.
