Key Fob

Hello. I just purchased at 2017 Tradesman. It did not come with Key Fobs. It just came with a pair of keys. I purchased a pair of aftermarket key fobs and used AlphaObd to pair the key fob to the truck using the instructions on this site. The key fob now starts the truck just fine.

My question is about the lock and unlock function on the key fob. When pairing the key fob using the RFhub in Alpha, was it supposed to activate the lock/unlock functions on the fob or is that a setting in the BCM. The truck does have power locks and windows.

Any help you can give me would be great.

Did you reset the RF Hub? It should work the unlock/lock.

I have a 2015 tradesman and once I paired the keys and reset the hub the lock/unlock worked.

I'm surprised the remote start worked you didn't have to turn it on with Alfa OBD?

Let us know the steps you went through and maybe we can see what you missed.

Here are the steps I took:

Choose the following from Alpha:
RAM 1500
Radio Frequency HUB(RFH)
Radio Frequency hub

Then I connected to the RFH
Pressed the car hood button at the bottom
Program Ignition FOBIXs Baseline system (with the new keyfob inserted)
Started the program after entering my PIN
said it was successfully paired

Used keyfob in the ignition and it started the truck fine.

I had not reset the hub so I will try that next

I remember what you need to do after reading what you did. You have to change VehConfig 3- RKE system to present then reset the RF Hub. That will fix the issue.

I'm in the same situation but with a 2018.. looking for fobs as well.. which ones did you get?

I forgot that I got these a while back.. and was able to program them to get them to work today

AlfaOBD for android and Windows PC. You will also need a OBD reader, I believe most people use OBDlink MX.

Anybody know if you can program new, full keyless ignition fobs with the alfaobd or does it only work with the nub style fob that sticks into the ignition port?

Shouldn't be any different to program the keyless fob vice the turn key fob.

For Full Keyless ignition fobs, you would choose the Highline system.

I used alpha obd2 and MX plus to program mine. Worked perfectly

I have a 2017 tradesman with the manual key as no push button start with different results. I have tried the above processes w/mx+ and full version of alphaodd but nothing works. My key fobs look like Ram factory keys. A locksmith told me trucks with manual keyed door locks are not equipped to support key fobs. My Ram dealer stated my truck wasn’t equipped as well. I’m not going to give up just yet. Besides trying a different key fob, does anyone have any suggestions?
