Is it still considered a square body if it' a stepside?
View attachment 548793View attachment 548794

my dad had that squarebody when i was a kid. he had a hopped up 454 in it and it ripped. so much so he got rid of it cause he kept getting tickets in it. was one of my favorite trucks. the memory that sticks in my mind to this day, 5 years old, he's blind in his right eye from a motorcycle accident and in the heat of summer that ***** would roll the windows up, lock them so i couldnt put it back down and turn the heat on and damn near crap his pants. it would hit me and id look over and he's just got this grin on his face and im dieing. from heat and crap.

that old man was special.

I still miss my old regular cab shortbox i had in high school.
Looks alot like the one my one uncle had. Manual steering, 302, 3 on the tree. He refused to fix the linkage so half the time you couldn't get it into 2nd gear....it would just grind every time lol. Had to pop back down into 1st, rev it up some more, than pop over to 3rd lol.

GM's old 3 on the tree was just as bad, lol. Then there was AMC's horrible 3 speed floor shifter, once the bushings got a bit of wear on them, the shift lever would split the rods apart, and then your knuckles would bounce of the damn dash on a fast 2-3 shift,i swore i broke my knuckles more then once on an AMC 3 speed, lol.
My little truck started life with a 351M,which soon morphed into a semi-hot 400M,then when i blew it up,it got a early 460 with cam/headers/intake /home ported heads,C6 out of a Lincoln with a 3500 stall convertor, and depending on if the truck was going to the track,or on a trip,it either had 3.89's or 3.00's in the rear, with 3.89's it became a bit of a sleeper, lol

Chevy cars late 40s & 50s models, that had Standard Transmissions, had issues with the shift linkage hanging up while in gear.
So we had to jump out & open the hood & grab the 2 shift rods & give them a couple of jerks, until you found the right combination to get the transmission in Neutral.
If that did not work, we had to slither under the car & jerk or use something like a hammer to get the car in Neutral.
There was only one little thing wrong with it, under the hood, the shift rod that was in your left hand, was too darn close to the exhaust, sometimes being under the car, was not much better.

One of my bigger scars is on my left wrist, it is an Exhaust Burn by my wrist bone.

By the way, we likely could have tweaked the rods to adjust them correctly, but instead, we moved the steering collar down by unscrewing the Signal Light Lever & then there was a metal Pin that held the shifter in place. We pulled that pin & then moved the shift lever over to the left side of the column, over by the door window, Then the pin was put back in place & the signal light lever was screwed back in, after the collar was put back in place.

As I remember it, the shift rods did not hang up any more & Speed Shifting was much quicker, because you pulled DOWN for 2nd gear :)

Wild one, that is the reason I still drive a regular cab short bed. ;)
The reason why i bought 2 regular cab shortbox Rams, was because of that little Ford i had in High School, after the wife and i got the house back to ourselves,i told her i was buying something, nobody else (kids) could ride in it with us,then she bought a Challenger and i put a rear seat delete in it to,lol. I swapped the Sport grill out for the Honeycomb grill on the red one,as i hated the look of the slats, and the honeycomb grill allows alot more airflow

Sorry boys no car show this week. The only one today during the day doesn't end before we need to leave for my wifes birthday party. All the ones tonight and tomorrow are canceled due to this heat.... 105-106 with a heat index of 112+.
