Installed the under hood light with the factory harness and
aftermarket LED light. Now the light won't go out when I shut
the hood. So where is switch, is it in the light or could it be
computer controlled?
Please help inform me before I buy a mercury switch. TIA

If you used the OEM light kit the switch is a mercury switch built into the unit.

Pop the original bulb back in,and see if it works properly.Only throwing this out there,but do you have it mounted so the pigtail faces up when the hood is open.It's virtually impossible to mount it wrong,but i did run into 1 guy who beat the virtually impossible odds and managed to mount his wrong,lol

Where'd you buy your kit from??? and what LED bulb was it???
I wanna get one and I'm just being lazy and asking.

I bought the whole led light on ebay, housing and all.
Couldn't get it to work no matter which way I turned it!
Well I'm a glutton for punishment, ordered another.
Let you know how it goes.

Post a picture of what you bought,or a link to the light. I'm starting to think you don't have the factory mercury switch equipped under hood light,if that's the case,you'll have to add your own switch to it.

Mopar Parts has it cheaper... includes 2017 so might fit 2018, either that or just check your year

The LED I bought looked just like Factory light?
If you look up 2018 Ram under hood Led, 50 will come up.

If you have the cowl mounted wiring connector,that's the light you want. There is a plug on the connector that you have to remove before you can plug in the lights harness,only mentioning it,as a few guys have had issues with plugging the harness in,and not realizing they had to remove the plug.

I got a new LED light from eBay and works great , I pointed the electrical connection up and works great. Thanks much for all the input

If you haven't bought this yet, I literally bought that exact kit for my '18 1500. Works fine.

Except the "switch" is audibly not a mercury switch. And the bulb is some stupid kind that is hard to find a "better known" brand of to replace. Helps a lot even with the crappy incandescent though!

I would like to install 2 lights under my hood as well. How did you go about using 2?
I was going to buy the LED kit that replaced the entire housing, and maybe buy 2 of them now after reading your post.
