Cliff's Notes: Deflating bags & valve block issues

November 2023
Over the last couple months, I've come out to my truck and noticed the rear driver side corner has dropped considerably (not your typical truck lean). I hop in, air up a level and then air down to normal ride height and I'm good to go. This has happened at random, and only about a dozen times.

No issues with airing up or down, aero mode, normal driving mode when the vehicle is on and running. No air leak sound, haven't done a water leak test yet, but the symptoms lead me to believe I may have had a clogged compressor valve block (68204398AA). Dealership wanted $650 for a new block and another $1100 for diagnostics, labor and wherever else they thought they needed. I'm just going to deal with it since it's so infrequent and random.

For over a year now I have been coming out to my truck where it's becoming more frequent where the driver rear corner and/or the driver front corner would be dropped to its lowest level. I start up the truck and cycle through OF1, OF2 and then back to normal ride, this can take up to 5min to level out where I am comfortable with driving. It's happening about half a dozen times a week and is still totally random, sometimes while being in a store for 15min and sometimes after overnight parking.

My truck has been driving like **** bouncing all over the road, going over the smallest highway bumps feels like I'm losing control. After months of researching Forums, Videos, etc etc, I pulled the trigger on deleting the Air Suspension. I landed on the Eibach Pro Truck suspension kit to replace the factory air suspension.

2024aug01 - Started my purchases
Eibach PRO-TRUCK-LIFT ($1170)
Front set to 2.25" / Rears are +1"
Part#: E80-27-001-04-22
- FRONT SPRING F31-27-001-04-FA
- REAR SPRING F31-27-001-02-RA
- FRONT SHOCK 28119.8003
- REAR SHOCK 28119.8004
Mopar Rear Spring Isolators 52855789AB ($40)
Freedom Offroad UCAs 2-4" ($400)
Purchased front take offs from 2017 Ram to get the front lower spring perches ($100)
Removed the lower spring perch and sold the take offs (-$100)

2024aug19 Installing tonight.

Pulling the 2 air ride fuses,
- Fuse #5: 40A
- Fuse #50, 20A
[Do not pull fuse #87 @ 10A. It will disable your factory trailer brake controller.]

I will need AlphaOBD to turn the air suspension off in the ECM.
- Go into body control module (BCM) > active diagnostics > car configuration change > P/T Chassis Net-ASCM
- Air Suspension Control Module (change to: Not Enabled)
- Once these steps are done you will no longer see the warning each time you start the truck.

Before PIC: Pretty sure I was in OR1 for this pic.

Excellent post. Thank you for all the info. Im not deleting my air ride (sits on jounces), but I have found a ton of good info and a couple dealerships that say they will help diagnose whatever issues we may have.

I was forced to deal with my air suspension when it started failing and I lost confidence that I wouldn't get stranded somewhere far from home. I went with the Eibach setup from airdelete.com and I frankly like it better than the factory four corner air suspension. Even though I purchased the truck with the air suspension to lower things to allow my physically challenged wife to get in easier, she has adjusted to the slight lift the new system provides. I really like the new system, but especially like it on drives hundreds of miles from home as I know there will be no suspension issues.

Thank you for the response. My problem is electrical. Codes say ECM lost communication with BCM, so on so on, blah blah blah. This has been quite a learning experience though. I did find a detailed step by step I attached. The problem with this is I have no air in my bags to check for leaks because whatever cannot communicate with whatever. So I made an executive decision and am going full old school air shocks like in the 70s. OEM equipment but no brain to take a dump. Switch to power the compressor, it fills tanks and Ill have a manual lever (or similar) to direct the air to the front or back. One gauge for the front and one for the back.
Advice & recommendations are welcome.
