Opinion On A Set Of Tires
I got 81k miles out of the Cooper Discoverer A/T's from walmart. This was before Cooper got bought by CrapYear. Granted, they were LT265/70R17, but "E" rated. And they only cost me $675 OTD at the time. Have heard that Falken's are great tires, too.- EdGs

Not a typical tire question. Load rating/side wall ply questions towing
I ran Cooper Discoverer A/T "E" rated tires from Walmart. Got over 81k miles out of them, and they cost me less than $700 for the set, otd w/road hazard. Now that Goodyear has bought Cooper, have no idea if the equivalents are as good. Have heard that the Falken's are excellent.- EdGs

Hemi Tick. Needing Opinions
Alot of times, the exhaust manifold tick will quiet once the engine warms, but sometimes the exhaust manifold warps so much that it doesn't seal well when warm. Fix the broken exhaust bolts, belt sand or mill your manifolds flat, and see if the tick is still present. Keep us posted. -
Transmission pan and fluid change questions
I didnt do that, but I did manage to pop the radiator drain plug out during my drain and fill, lol. Btw, OAT coolant tastes really bad, too. What a mess!- EdGs

I would wait on the mopar crate engine, and IMO, you should get a loaner vehicle, just for the inconvenience. But, as has been said, tread lightly, esp. since they are taking care of you, albeit very slowly. Best of luck to you, keep us posted.- EdGs

Feds to require automatic braking by 2029
I wonder if it will cause more accidents in slick conditions. Granted, people should allow safe distances, but what happens if the system activates hard, combined with a slight steering correction on the part of the driver? All I see is the potential for someone to spin out and wreak havoc in... -
Missives cylinder 3 and no eco mode?
My '15 SLT is on the cusp of 186k as I write this, dreading the day when it's my turn. But, if it does, I just have to fix it, and keep going. Can't afford a new one and can't really afford to fix it either, but it will be what it will be.- EdGs

$82 per vehicle. Yeah, riggght. More like $8200 by then, at the current rate of inflation. -
Transmission Woes (and haven't been on in a while)
Definately strange happenings. The transmission fluid must expand quite a bit because in order to check the fluid level properly, the transmission temperature MUST be between 86° and 122°, along with the tramsmission being level (it's really easy to see how much the transmission is angled...- EdGs

On the ZF 8HP, if they removed the transmission fill plug with the truck not running, fluid Will gush out. The OE fluid is green, and turns dark fairly quick. (I would like to believe that a dealer service dept would know this.) Also, the transmission has to be level when checking. The rear...- EdGs

I probably should change it more often. But I do live here in FLatistan, so no hills to speak of, until I get up in the Carolinas to see family once or twice a year. I also don't haul alot, or tow a boat. I do haul ass occasionally, though. :Big Laugh: It is a hemi, after all.- EdGs

Buying mopar lifters on eBay?
You could call your local dealer, give them your VIN#, and ask for a quote, and then ask for the chrysler part #. I do know that the letter suffix changes on updated parts, starting with AA, then AB, then AC, etc. Not sure about the numbers, though. Who knows how many variations there are on...- EdGs

I would like to believe that they would change the coolant when doing the radiator repair, but if the coolant is clean, they could potentially reuse it? I have no idea their protocol on this. Trans service should be done, OE fluid and pan will run $450ish dealer price on pan and fluid w/o...- EdGs

Higher capacity oil filter
XG10575 is the same diameter, but longer filter than the X10060. I use the Fram XG2 on my '15. It is listed for the Challengers that use the 5.7. Larger diameter filter. Some seem to not have room for it on their Rams, though.- EdGs

Think I might crash
When you are doing 80-85-90, and you have to do a quick evasive move, you will end up killing yourself or someone else, hopefully you realize this sooner rather than later. There won't be any time to think about it when you are flipping over 17 times.- EdGs
