This one has royal purple and prolator in it.
Surprisingly RP was restrictive.
Purolator boss was as good in filtration without being restrictive.
or me I’m the exact opppsite I have 700 idle hours, <15% of total, and I had to replace the cam.
everything I’ve seen in my mildly educated opinion has pointed to metallurgy not lubrication.
spark plug / coil pack would be my first check.
Try moving the cyl 8 coil pack to another cylinder see if miss follows.
If not, then try replacing plugs (unless they're new), which of course could then be counterfit plug issue.
Uncoated AFR shorties in Phoenix AZ here… no noticeable difference.
I don’t even break 190° idling in 110° ambient. Honestly I don’t even break 200° unless towing or putting my foot in it.
I’m sure my under hood temps are higher but again it’s a truck not a road race car.
I may wrap / coat...
How old is your key fob? The metal contact on the inside of the rubbery button separated on mine causing similar issue.
It’s very easy to take the fob apart small screw under the door key part then gently pry apart.
If that is the case you can buy a new fob on Amazon and swap the electronic...

So much ignorance in the world is due to people’s close minded thinking.

Since it’s an 09 what oil are you using?
The earlier rams could get MDS issues with wrong viscosity.
Doubtful but something to check
Edit - actually cyl 5 is a non MDS cylinder.
If anyone has an AFE y pipe that fits with oem manifolds / twisted steel shorties for the 4th gen Ram 1500 I’d be interested in purchasing.
I’ll leave this up for however long, know it’s a long shot.
Thanks for looking.
FYI youcan do this and you can always adjust the shipment timing after your first order to coincide with when you actually need it next. Still gets the discount!
I did see that and still believe it has to do with the cam… and the plastic yokes.
If I swap out my MDS lifters, I’ll definitely be getting billet yokes.
I'd agree with this. Part of my hypothesis is that I don't believe it to be a MDS correlated issue at all.
From examining my personal cam and lifters, as well as doing a great deal of academic / engineering researching on topics such as Hertzian stress, axial load (makes sense why my pin was...
At 50k, not sure if you’ve ever done the drivetrain fluids; diffs, trans, t case etc double check the maintenance schedule I’m sure someone will chime in for the 6spd trans I dunno.
