I was able to just pry the brush enclosures up and apart just a little until the brushes moved freely. Then reassembled. Bent end taper gauges made getting the motor back in a breeze. Fixed with no out of pocket.
HCU motor problem probably. Pretty common in 2017/2018 hd’s. Easy fix just remove HCU motor open up brush slide and replace. Takes about an hour. There’s a good YouTube vid on it. I didn’t remove my brushes just opened up the metal holder they slide in . Can be done with out removing the HCU...
I had the same issue. Was able to remove my HCU motor and free up the brushes by prying their enclosure open slightly allowing them to slide freely. Then put motor back on using some small metal shims. About 1 hour in all . No money spent. If you have the same issue. Brushes sticking.
