Awful gas mileage: 2024 RAM Rebel GT

The issue is the duratrac tires. They rob the mileage. I had the stock 20in sra's on my 2018 outdoorsman and got an avg of 13L/100kms. Switched to 20in KO2 and avged 14L/100kms. 18in Durtracs were worse at 16L/100kms. Michellin LTX 20in were the best at 10.5L/100kms. All of these were over...

    2023 Ram steering issue

Hmm, that actually sounds like it's an issue with the signal arm catch binding with the steering wheel column. I have no idea how it is in our trucks, but I do know in the caravans and a bunch of other non-chrysler vehicles, when you flip the signal stalk, it pushes out a little plastic piece...

    Camping 2024

Price of gas hasn't really impacted us for our trips. But, it does reduce the activities we do. No mini-golf, only 2 trips for ice cream a week (used to be every other day), and less tubing and more fishing.

    Just Curious

Hello from a fellow Saskie. On my 4th gen I ran Michelin LTX MS2 and it was pretty good over the frost cracks. In my 5th gen (rodent write off of the 4th gen) the duratrac tires on the rebel suck balls. The stock bilsteins do help a bit, but not much. But also the northern roads in Sask suck...

    8hp70 fluid

I guess, I'm one of the few running redline and haven't had any issues so far. But after hearing all the stories, I'm going to be doing a couple of flushes with maxlife. Just haven't done it yet because it's -30C and F. When it gets this cold, the torque converter lockup doesn't work until it...

    Winter/All-Terain Tire Recommendations?

After using both BFG KO2 and studded Duratrac's, the KO2s are the way to go. The KO2s perform so much better in snow, I plowed 10kms of 2ft deep snow in them with no issues, the duratracs got stuck after just a few car lengths. The studs help a bit on ice, but do nothing when you start spinning...

    Loves Left Turns

my 2018 gen 4 does the same thing, I did some reading on it and apparently the electric rack has a sensor in it where it'll help compensate for slightly off center positioning (I think to help with driving in cross winds). When driving at slower speeds, I've found it does return to center. I...

Reg vs mid vs premium Does it Matter

Also in Can and I run 91 almost exclusively (wife sometimes puts in 87) and avg 12L/100kms (19.6mpg) (manually calculated) during the summer (winter ends up being 15L/100kms). The summer after I got the truck (had around 40k kms on it) I ran 3 tanks of 87 to ensure I didn't have any residual 91...

    questions about driving in snow

Living on an acreage in Saskatchewan Canada, we get our fair share of all types of winter conditions. I ran the stock SRA's for a season and they were pretty good on ice, hard packed snow, but as soon as you stop, they ice up and you're not going anywhere. In as little as an inch of snow, it...

GY Duratracs vs BFG KO2 for my Rebel... help

I like following threads like this. I am currently running KO2's and had nothing but success with them but am always looking for options. They're great on the highway, nice and smooth, noisier and less MPG than SRA's but I expect that. I have never worried about getting stuck in snow with...

Change coil spring or add airlift on ram 1500

haha yeah, that's why I'm looking at springs. But I don't know what the current spring rate is in the Outdoorsman because I heard they're different. I also just confirmed I had a cracked bag late yesterday too.

Change coil spring or add airlift on ram 1500

Yeah I had the airlift 1000lbs bags that go inside the springs and they worked amazing. I don't pull too heavy of a trailer (3k gvw) but I use them when I'm hauling anything in the bed of the truck. The caveat is these don't like cold weather. I installed mine last spring and this past...

How offroad worthy is the RAM 1500?

HAHA, I traded in my KL for my outdoorsman with 3.92 lsd. I didn't have buyers remorse because I got the extra warranty, but I know they lost a lot of money off that deal from all the times it was in the shop. I had another vehicle so didn't mind. But the trans wasn't for much longer in the...

    Air Con failure

I've tried looking for RAM 1500 internal TSB's, could find them for my 2015 Jeep Cherokee. But no dice. Can't seem to find any. I'll see about posting my work order sheet that references it.

    Air Con failure

I actually just took my 2018 RAM 1500 in due to its AC not working. The work order referenced a TSB, TSB24-010-18. It covers replacing the condenser plug at the bottom there. Mine was all covered under warranty, so didn't pay attention to the hours, but doubt it was too much. Sorry to hear...

    Payload

Canada is horrible for showing actual weights. I spent a bit of Googling, but found an FCA PDF that listed all weights for a 2017. I then did my own educated guesses and found with my whole family and luggage, I had 722lbs payload capacity left. My truck is an 2018 1500 Outdoorsman CC 5.7bed...

AT Tires that don't throw much gravel???

Went from stock SRA's with only 12k kms on them to BFG KO2's since the SRAs kept having rocks punch through them. Where I live, I drive about 50kms of gravel each day (live on an acreage) and the KO2s are horrible for picking up rocks and firing them (when going 60kph or slower they'll actually...

    Engine 5.7 hemi problem camshaft

Really?!? That seems to indicate it's a lubrication problem. Since reading on other threads the cams seem to be splash lubed and police cars see tons of idling. I wonder if that's the issue, not enough oil is getting to the cams. Wish I could see a high res breakout and diagram to see how the...

Do you find Hill Start Assist useful or not?

had in my 15 cherokee and in my 18 1500. I like it, first time it engaged in the jeep, I had the same feeling, thought my trans was about to fall out. But the way the new ZF trans work, they don't really hold the vehicle on a hill anymore. I can see not wanting it when rock crawling or other...

First oil change and the ‘18 already needs replacement parts

I changed the oil and filter in my US built 2018 1500 (live in Canada) and my filter was on stupidly tight too. Changed it at 4k due to break-in and put in PUP 5w20 with FRAM Ultra filter. Going to change the oil and filter with RL 5w30 and RP 10-48

Best LED bulbs for Ram 1500

I haven't had any issues with the fan heatsink inside the quad housing as of yet, however our highest temp since I installed them was only +10C, right now it's -8C. Let's see if I can get the pics uploaded showing the output of the LED compared to week old stock halogens. As you can see, if...

Best LED bulbs for Ram 1500

Yup those are the ones I was talking about. They're awesome, except i went with just some Phillip's Halogens for the highs since it seems to run LEDs in the highs, you need to cut the dust caps on our quad housings and looking, there's no way to get around it. I will eventually go down that...

    Tired of Searching - Speaker?

I'm curious about the limiting of frequencies. Are the limiters built-in the head unit or in the stock speakers. I want to keep my head unit, but upgrade the speakers. Also, does anyone know how the front door and dash speakers are linked? Are they spliced together at a speaker (assume dash)...
