    2010 4.7 knocking/tapping any thought???

I have a 2010 4.7 also, I'm the 3rd owner. When I bought it in 2018, it had the tapping. I bought this one with 74,000 miles on it. When it's started , it makes more noise than the '03 mentioned in the next paragraph, but after in warms up the noise fades, but you can still hear it. come to a...

    Best low dust brake pads?

I don’t remember the manufacturers name, but on my 2003 quad cab, I went with ceramics, and in the 5 years & 56,000 miles I owned it, never had a problem with brake dust, it was non-existent on the wheels

    Anyone switched to 87 octane?

Every car, truck, RAM, Jeep, classic car, or motorcycle I've ever owned, and there have been a lot, has always been 87 octane. If I've needed an octane boost, I'll dump in a can of 106.

2010 ram 4.7 knock ***video added***

Every high mileage Chrysler product I've owned, with a 4.7, developes a valvetrain noise. I've had some mechanics ask if the vehicle overheated, because that can bring about that noise, & to the best of my knowledge, not during my ownership. I started using high mileage, synthetic oils, and...

I agree. When my dad passed, we ( my brother's & I ), decided his black Plymouth Horizon, should go to my wife, as her blue Horizon had been passed to her eldest nephew. It looks great when clean, but shows everything when dirty. She now has a 2014, white Patriot, which, while she was down with...

    Truck caps?

It might, but if it's not from a '12 the roofline may not match up to your cab. Aluminum caps are the exception. They're made 1 way, square, so they will usually be slightly higher or lower than your cab, no matter the year. I bought an Aluminum cap for my '96 ram, brand new, and it was an...

Anyone else think their 4th Gen is a Lemon?

I purchase my tires at Discount Tires, so I get free rotations done every 6mo, so really, there's no excuse for people not getting tires rotated. I'm the second owner of my 2010, and other than a couple hiccups, no lemon here.

How many have had to replace their water pump?

Pulled into work, December 2019, at the end of the day, saw some coolant on the ground. Dropped it off at the mechanic across the street the next day and it was leaking out the bearing. he replaced the water pump, serpentine belt & idler, and coolant for $450. Truck had around 93,000 miles.

What is this whole Gen" thing?

I didn't like when they changed to the cat-eye look. I had a 2003 that didn't have these

    I hope I don't regret this

Come to think of it, the last engine that I adjusted valves on was my '80 GMC 350 with the Mexican camshaft. When it got to the point that I was tightening the lifter nuts weekly, it was time to cave and get the mexican camshaft replaced. After that, no more issues. When we pulled the old cam...
