My son's 2002 1500 4.7 has a weird issue. Got a low battery warning. Battery was good but Alt. tested bad. Replaced the Alt and thought all was good. A week goes by and the battery leaked acid all over his engine bay. It appeared the caps popped off and let the fluid out. Bought a new battery and drove it home. By the time he got home the new battery had popped its caps and spilled acid all over. What could cause this? Is the new Alt. the cause? Any ideas?
Update: Alt was bad. Replaced it with a brand new one versus the rebuilt and all is good .....so far.
