thoughts if im on track here please

So i am showing a small ammount of potassium (less than 100ppm) in the past 2 UOA’s. No sodium. No increase in wear. Blackstone says monitor it.

I am planning to change my oil cooler as from what I understand it is a common problem that the seal fails and the coolant and oil that both pass through the oil cooler end up contaminating each other a bit.

I find it hard to believe i have a head gasket leak.

I'd get rid of it.It's not a cooler,it's to small to cool squat, when you figure there's upwards of 10gpm flowing through the system.Plug off the hoses feeding it,and get the older filter n!pple so you can install the bigger filter onto the engine

Not sure if im already running the filter you speak of. I run the bigger RP-2820

I had no idea it could be plugged and run that way.

The oiling system as far as filtering goes is identical to the earlier 5.7 and 6.4's that didn't use the leak prone oil cooler, you just need the earlier filter n!pple and plug off the coolant hoses feeding the cooler.
You could even run a dual remote filter set-up if you wanted a bit more oil cooling.

I have one of the very early 6.4s in my 2014 and have been on this board regularly and head gasket failures are VERY rare. I can't even recall ever reading about one.... I'm sure there have been some but not that I can remember right off. Fingers crossed for you.

Does anybody know of a "Kit" available to permanently block off the oil cooler from the filter housing?
