Turned left at a light yesterday and lost power steering. I figured it was the belt, so I just coasted to a stop. Sure enough, belt was in shreds. Cause: AC compressor is no longer mounted to the engine. Nearest I can figure is that the rear bolt worked its way out and the front two were left to carry the load of the belt which broke them off flush with the bracket. Since its aluminum, I was able to get the broken pieces out and use them to size the new ones which I finally found at Fastenal. Three new bolts with locktite and a new belt and all seems well again. I think I would rather have these bolts be 10mm instead of 8mm; especially since they are 4" long.
