Anyone Had Ram Box Issues?

My neighbor who owns a 17 Ram Night edition with a Ram Box has problems with the driver's side box lid. It doesn't line up or sit flush on either end and the exterior panel of the lid keeps coming off (double sided tape).

He's taken it to the dealer at least three times and they have not resolved it. There doesn't appear to be any type of adjustment to the latches. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this?

I haven't had any problems and I don't believe there is any double sided tape involved in a proper installation.

The lid itself is adjustable to line up with the body though.

How is it adjustable? The ends of the lid do not sit flush with the box on my neighbors Ram box. It bows up at the ends.

The part that is shown in the diagram as part #8 is what I seen that is held on with double sided tape to the lid shown as part #7. Hope the diagram helps to show what I am referring too.

I don't have a picture to show of his truck to refer too.

The ends being bowed up are not adjustable if I remember correctly but the whole lid assembly is replaceable under warranty (if deformed). The center adjustment is at the latch to raise or lower the closed position.

It's possible it was adjusted to far down to begin with causing the ends to bow upward.

I should have re-read my post, the color panel that goes on the lid appears to have double sided tape holding it to the lid. My neighbor said it is going to be the fourth time trying to get it adjusted and or replaced. He did mark the inside of the Ram box cover to see if they did or didn't replace the lid to fix it.

Just was wondering if there was any advice I can present to him to help him out. The front edge of the lid sticks up about a half an inch from top of the bed rail and the rear sticks a little more than a half inch from the top of the bed rail.

I know it's not my problem, but it is such a nice truck to have such a trivial problem.

I would see if @ramcares can chime in. Sometimes, dealerships can make unacceptable repairs and need to be prodded to do the repairs correctly.

I've never torn it apart to see, but I'm pretty sure that the Bedrail is affixed with something other than tape. I could be wrong but that sounds like a dealership trying to save a buck on a warranty repair/replacement.

No issues with my RamBox's fit and finish are good. But the truck is only a few months old

No issues here. Mine are not super tight, but they are adequate. Definitely not as bad as the OP's neighbor's.

I still say I'll never own another Ram without them. Absolutely love them.

I've had a few times they were off enough I thought someone had tried to pry it open.

Once it was something in that shifted and was pressing up. Once dealer replaced a hinge. Other times it seems to resolve itself.

The dealer I bought the truck from had no clue on how to fix it so I am going to try another dealer in the area that knows a bit more about the Ram Box option. But thank you for the info here. I was beginning to think I was the only person with this issue. Also, the Ram Box is a great option and I wouldn't own a truck without it. But for what it costs, the lids should line up.

Would you happen to have the part number (maybe it's on your invoice?) from the hinge repair that fixed your Ram Box lid? The second dealer I've tried for this issue replaced my entire driver's side lid three weeks ago and already it's not aligned again. I even told them that there was a forum where a person had mentioned fixing the issue with just a hinge replacement but they didn't seem to be interested in that. I have an appointment to go back to the dealer on Thursday. I'd like to give them a chance to get it right but if they don't fix it this time I'll be contacting Ramcares.

I just bought my 2017, and drivers side never looked right, and loose, I adjusted latch and stop bumpers, to improve fit, but the skin is loose at both ends. Once I figure out how to remove skin, will probably clean and use high addheasive clear caulk first to reattach
