Hey everyone. New to the forum and I recently bought a used 2014 1500 5.7L. After about 2 weeks, the truck stalled and will no longer start. Some digging revealed something is going on with the ASD relay.
I decided to test by removing the relay and directly connecting where pin 30 and 87 should go. The truck started without any problems. A mechanic told me that the tipm or pcm is bad because his computer shows “the relay switching from on to off when you cycle the key but when you crank it instead of turning off the relay turns on.”
Is there any other reason why the computer would activate the relay on ignition aside from being damaged or requiring reprogramming?
Will wiring the ASD output to the ignition be problematic going forward if I don’t want to spend the money on a new tipm or pcm?
