I have a Frankenstein Gen 3 1500 Ram truck with a Gen 2 Cummins Diesel motor. It's had an issue since I got it where the indicator is always pegged high on the battery gauge. I measured it to be about 15vdc when it's running. Leaving work one day I got the clicking sound when trying to start my truck. I found the positive auxiliary battery terminal had broken off and the cable end was shorting out on the exhaust. I tied it out of the way and the truck still just clicked away. I used vice grips to hold it on, got the truck started, removed the connection (when I removed the connection the end was glowing hot.), tied it off and was able to drive it home. I plan on removing the batteries to get them tested. Any suggestions on what battery terminals to get. I'd seen the SDHQ billet aluminum ones the looked impressive (SKU: SDHQ-02-3003-C2), but I don't know if they'll fit my batteries. Also, any recommendations on how to resolve my over charging issue?

Aren't all alternator internally regulated nowadays ?

I would take the alternator off and have it tested
