I have an 06 Ram 5.7 Hemi, just hit 333k original miles on the drivetrain I’ve maintained it well, but it’s tired. I love the truck and want to keep it. Thought about rebuilding it myself but lost my garage. Alternatively am looking for a solid crate motor with improved oil flow, lifters, valve seats—addressing the weaknesses of the stock motor, with a moderate cam, or, have a Hemi genius rebuild it for me. Need recommendations for best Hemi crate motor or rebuild mechanic in VA.

Dennis, you’re 60 years old. Your truck is 16 years old with 330,000 miles. You earned and deserve a new(ish) truck.

But if you’re determined to fix the old one, I’d go with a Jasper reman.

How did the transmission hold up for those 330K mi?

If you take care of them they will take care of you. Regular fluid and filter changes will do wonders.
The trans in the '97 4x4 that I gave my son just gave up the ghost at just over 300k miles.

300k. Shoot I’d say the stock one did well. Throw another one in. I have 150k on my 2014 5.7. My “plan” is to buy a used motor and do the work on it and have ready to drop in when time comes.

Still original tranny, do my own fluid changes on it and transfer case. Just recently on steep mountain trails the tranny smells hot so will rebuild that or upgrade. I love this truck and will be getting a company car so want to rebuild/improve it for hunting and fishing.

Weaknesses? Yeah I really hate it when a gas engine goes over 300K miles.:insane:
Lol: oil sludge can be an issue, OEM valve seats can fail and drop into the chamber, exhaust manifold/gasket failures, lifter failures—I’ve gotten lucky thank God!

I got a few quotes on crate engines and might keep the core, take my time and rebuild it myself then look for a trashed challenger to put it in for a project/toy
