Key fob gets stuck

I have a 2009 RAM 1500. The blasted key fob gets stuck in the ignition on a regular basis. There is no rhyme or reason, and nothing inparticular that makes it decide to finally let the fob go. On the other hand, sometimes the ignition won't accept the fob, but if I touch the fob to the ignition and turn it the truck will start. Has anyone else had this problem? My mechanic is stumped and doesn't want to just start throwing parts at it. Thanks

I doubt it’s the FOB. It’s likely the panel-switch/receptacle.

If your gear selector is not in Park then the key cannot be removed. And if your key THINKS the gear selector is not in PARK, then the key still cannot be removed. Try taking it out of Park and putting it back in again a little firmer. As I recall this happened to me a few times..............
