Long bed to Short bed

I have a 2015 2500 short-bed that has been worked over pretty good by the previous owner. I have been looking for a pull off replacement for the truck, but I have only been running into a lot of long-beds. Does any one know if it’s possible to cut a long-bed down to a short-bed? Anyone know if someone has done it?

a google search comes up with quite a few. It depends on how much you want to spend, or, if you want new or used.

That’s a ridiculous amount of work, just get a short bed. They’re not that hard to find.

True, but the few short beds that I can find in my area are priced like gold: $2500-$3500. I can weld, and I have a buddy who owns a body shop. I can find long bed pull-offs for under $1k. I thought it might be worth the effort since the bed will need paintwork anyway.

By the time you shorten the $1ooo 8' bed,you'll end up paying more than $2500-$3500
You have to shorten forward of,and behind,the wheel opening,the inner structure,and the floor.The body line a few inches from the top won't line up either
That's a lot of labor involved

4th Generation Ram Truck bed measurements vary
the Bed Rails measured from the rail to rail at the front, center, & rear vary.
They are wider at the cab, then they are at the tailgate

I don't recall a 2015 Ram 2500 with a 5 foot 7 inches bed
but what do i know
Is it a Crew Cab ?

Be patient and keep watching marketplace. Any 2009-2018 1500 bed or 2010-present 2500/3500 bed will work as long as it’s the same length, but if you use a 2019+ 2500 bed you’ll need to swap the passenger side hinge on your tailgate.
