So I recently picked up a used Bully Dog GT tuner. I only paid $280 for it (just make sure it's unlocked!). I know I could have gotten a Trinity, but I found this and couldn't pass it up! I would have paid around $500 for a new Trinity! Install was pretty simple, just follow the steps! Was a little nerve racking seeing all the check lights/ dash lights come on, but it's part of it so it can read them all I guess. Once installed all lights go off (unless you disable traction control).

So with that being said, my favorite feature is being able to turn off traction control. You'll need that in sticky situations (aka mud!)

You can also set a fuel economy goal and it will tell you when you're driving 100% to achieve that goal.

You can also do performance testing and get your 0-60 times!!

So on a recent trip down the highway for about 10 minutes I was seeing up to 17.5 mpg, about 1.5 mpg more than before with no tuner! I'm also averaging 15.5 mpg, where before it was only 12!

Other features I love are being able to account for my bigger tires, running fogs with high beams and setting a time for how long accessory lights stay on.

All in all I'm very pleased with my purchase. However if I was buying new I'd get a Trinity. More options and the ability to do custom tunes! But for what I paid for the Bully Dog and what I can do I have no complaints. Looking forward to finding an empty stretch of road to see my 0-60 times. To add, I only have an exhaust. I'm sure with more performance upgrades you'd see more gains!

You should try and hand calculate the mpg numbers to see how it stacks up then! My evic with my trinity is sometimes 3L/100 kms off the ha d calculated number which is huge!

I find that if I restart the evic mpg with a full tank and only drive highway it's usually pretty accurate though

I thought bd supported custom tunes now, or is that for their diesel tuners?

I had the bd tuner on my 12 and was very pleased with it.

That's what I was thinking, just to see how accurate it is. As far as hp gains I have no way of knowing. But throttle response seems better!

I didn't know they could support custom tunes, I thought it was just the Trinity.

I think sometime in December I think I saw something on one of the truck shows on spike TV and remember reading something on one of the diesel forums about it. Not sure if someone who does custom tunes needs special software just for bd.

Nice score on the bully dog! I just picked up a pre-owned unit myself for $300 shipped. I had the owner call & confirm with bully dog that it was unlocked.

They did tell him to make sure I register it with them & to download the most current programming updates.

With all the mixed feelings about Bully Dog on here & other sites lately, it's nice to hear about a happy customer.

I mean I get why people dislike it so much..it's basic and not as many options as the Trinity. But for what I gave for it, it's well worth it!

I had one in my 2012 and loved it. I now have a 2014 and can't use it in my new truck. If anyone wants one let me know, its unlocked and ready for install. I will sell it for about the same as GlockNRam got his for……..

Not only that, with the economy meter up on the BD Tuner all the time, you are more conscious about putting that pedal down. Id bet that is where your mileage is coming from if its accurate.

I was staring at it like crazy while driving on the highway lol..still been averaging 15.5, up to as high as 18 on the highway. Next tank I'll hand calculate it!

Just a tip the 0-100 kmph is actually 0-62mph:favorites13:

Will that work on 2013's with 8 speeds?
