So I’m at the point where I don’t know what to do next. The issue is that the wipers run on constant low, no matter what, when the fuse is installed. The only way the stop is to pull the wiper fuse. No other functions from the selector switch change anything. They even run on constant low when the key is NOT in the ignition. I swapped the multifunction switch with one I know works, that’s not causing the issue. I replaced the motor with a brand new one, it’s doing the same thing. Somehow it’s getting constant low voltage all of the time and I have no idea what to dig into next. Any thoughts or guidance would be great. It’s likely a simple electrical issue that I’m not wrapping my head around yet.

Is the truck tuned? Back before HP was available for Chrysler products my 14 was tuned via Diablo, and it had issues with the wipers staying on,and it all went back to a ****** corrupted file in the diablo tuner

Not that I know of. I’m the second owner of the vehicle. No after market mods or anything of the sort. I did replace the TIPM last year, truck ran great no issues for several months. One day I went out to start it and the battery was dead. After I replaced the battery the wipers started doing this so I can only assume that’s what killed it. Just replaced the starter last week too, was wondering if that was related electrically but turned out the chassis ground on the old starter was completed rotted out. I don’t have any related issues with the multifunction switch (turn signals, high beams, washer fluid, etc.) everything works fine.

I had a 2004 that the wipers could come on at any time .
From the day I took delivery.
The truck might sit in the driveway for three days , and I look out the window and see the wipers make five or six passes then stop in the parked position.

This issue was brought to the attention of my warranty dealer at the time , however all I got was the deer in the headlights response , while the mouth breathing service writer said he never heard of this before.

No more dealer visits after that.

This could occur with me driving 60 mph . Or with no keys present.

It did this until I traded it in , 10 yrs , 75,000 miles . Since then, I have read on this forum that I was not special .

20 plus years later and this is still an issue, almost like exhaust manifolds .

Sounds like TIPM, research that. Sad something small and you need an engineer to fix the TIPM or get a new one and then flash it.

dont go just replacing TIPM, that was just a possible. Look at the entire picture..

A TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) fault, or a short circuit in the interior bus, can cause windshield wipers on a Dodge Ram 1500 to get stuck on. This can manifest as the wipers not returning to their park position, or being stuck on high speed. While the TIPM is often the first suspect, a short in the interior bus or a faulty multifunction switch are common culprits.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Possible Causes:
  • TIPM Failure:
The TIPM controls many electrical systems, including wipers. A faulty TIPM can lead to erratic wiper behavior.

  • Short Circuit:
A short in the interior bus, often related to the cluster or cabin compartment node (CCN), can trigger a safety feature in the TIPM that keeps wipers on.

  • Faulty Wiper Motor Park Switch:
This switch signals the wiper motor to stop at the correct rest position. If it fails, the wipers might not return.

  • Multifunction Switch Issues:
The switch that controls wiper functions (on/off, speed) can malfunction and cause the wipers to stay on.

  • Wiper Motor Problems:
The motor itself might have worn brushes or other issues.
Troubleshooting Steps:
  1. 1. Check for a Short:
A scan tool capable of communicating with the instrument cluster and TIPM can help diagnose a short circuit, according to a customer support forum.

  2. 2. Inspect the TIPM:
Look for any signs of damage or corrosion. You can have the TIPM inspected and potentially repaired by a specialized shop.

  3. 3. Test the Multifunction Switch:
If you suspect the switch, you can test it with a multimeter.

  4. 4. Inspect Wiring:
Check for any damaged or corroded wiring, especially around the wiper motor and TIPM.

  5. 5. Consider a Wiper Motor Replacement:
If other solutions fail, replacing the wiper motor or the park switch might be necessary.

  6. 6. Check for Mechanical Issues:
Make sure the wiper arms are not binding and that the wiper blades are in good condition.

I had to replace the Multifunction Switch on my 06 twice in the 14 years I owned it all because the wipers would not shut off instantly then turned off
Good report, that item doesn't look cheap though. Cheaper the TIPM )

I'd see about testing it. How did you determine it was that switch?

The BCM controls the wiper high/low relay & the wiper on/off relay.

I've attached the schematic info and a diagnosis section for 2013-2016 wiper systems.

You can download the entire service manual in a PDF format below.
Use your preferred PDF viewer and word search the document on a PC with control F.

A lot of reading about it and finally biting the bullet and bought one from a Ram dealer online thus saving $$$ then having it installed, presto change-o no more wiper problems...

I replaced the TIPM last year with a rebuilt from a guy out in California. Long story short I had dozens of seemingly unrelated electrical issues until I made my way to the TIPM only to find 2 entire harnesses completed corroded and rotted out. 16 pins snapped off it completely when I started pulling the harnesses off the bottom of the TIPM. Had no issues for about 2 months after the replacement then ended up with this wiper issue starting one day out of the blue.

Do you have automatic wipers? If you do, and have replaced the windshield or messed with the rain sensor on the windshield that could be the issue. I have auto wipers on my 14, the sensor is very sensitive, like if I get bugs on the windshield in the area it thinks it's rain

My guess, hope it helps. Hope it not TIPM.

I was also wondering about that, When I am washing the truck with a hose at home or with the wand at the car wash, the wipers will come one, and when I wash the front doors the lights will go nuts from the touchless entry or what ever its called.
Maybe if the remote/ fob was not in my pocket ,it may change, never tried that.

I have auto wipers and push button start. It has always worked that way from new.

J ,you said a used truck, if you where in Florida , I would wonder if you bought someone's truck that was in a flood.
That can bugger up lots of stuff, wiring connectors at the top of the list.

Us old rednecks would install a toggle switch on the dash in line with the fuse if that main switch is priced as I think it could be.
If you get it fixed, let us know. Really helps when some has the same problem.

A PS , what bugs me on mine is when you hit the wash button on the truck, the wiper will cck. a couple times on dry glass before the spray hits the windshield, hard on the glass, thou my glass is quite sandblasted after 10 yrs.
I still think of it as my new truck. looks new. :D

Ignition switch under steering wheel. My 04 had done the same for years. I had other issues with ignition changed the switch , wiper issue went away . I didn’t see your year or mileage . But maybe ignition switch. Not key switch.

Do you have any updates or do you need any assistance using the schematics or documentation?
