Didn't see the screenshot until now for some reason.

Can you message me your vin & year?
I'd like to download the update for your radio and look through the file. See if it matches the other 17.43.1 file I have (Md5)

Got it.
Yep the uconnect site returns the same RA4 My15 v17.43.01 file I already have linked in my FW info thread. Still in limbo on the 18.x files

So, Is it normal for some of us to get the 18.43.XX? I've only seen people reporting 18.11.XX, perhaps they ninja edited the OTA update because of bricking devices?

I got mine yesterday.

I just had the same thing happen. I called FCA support twice. Second call I was told I would need to take my Ram to a dealer so the radio could get a hard reset. I followed the instructions on the display to no avail. But it finally updated.....I think. While traveling home I stopped and entered a time about 5 minutes ahead for the update. I believe this time I waited a few more minutes before turning my truck off. About 40 minutes later when I started it, the radio was working again. So I don't know if I was lucky or what. Here are instructions I received from FCA. I didn't follow this to a T, though.

The following are the steps for removing the pop up for an update on your vehicle:

1. Choose Schedule Update
2. Set the time 2 minutes ahead of your current time (for example if it is 8:43 AM, set the time for 8:45 AM)
3. Once the time is chosen, select 'Set Time'
4. Select 'OK' DO NOT press the X at the top right
5. Wait for 3 minutes to allow the set tune to pass (for example, if the time was set for 8:45 AM, wait at least until 8:48 AM)
6. Perform two button reset (Simultaneously press and hold the circular browse/enter & power/mute buttons for 5 seconds.)
7. Wait for the 'Schedule Update' pop up to show again but DO NOT set time
8. Perform a complete sleep cycle
a. Ignition off
b. Open door
c. close door
d. lock the door
e. Wait for 10 minutes
9. Turn the Ignition on, and the pop ups should cease

THANK YOU. Did this last night and it WORKED. So far so good.

My new version is 18.43.01. It installed two days ago, I think.

How do you check to see what version you have?

The OTA update tried to come through and failed three times. Luckily my failed updates didn't brick my unit but the last time it tried to update, I got "Please contact your dealer" message when I restarted the truck. I have time scheduled tomorrow morning to see if they can flash it for me and hopefully they don't make me pay a fee for this.

I really wish UConnect/FCA would just post the update for us to update manually.

Keep us posted, I'm not sure if the dealer has the file to manually flash yet but let us know either way.

The dealer visit was a waste of time, they just pulled the radio fuse for 20 minutes to clear the radio memory. So the wait begins again to see if the update pops up to try again.

That is actually listed as the fix in the STAR bulletin about the problem.

Do you know what s/w version your radio has now? Some people have had success with the pull the fuse for 20 minutes....once the radio booted up and got past the scheduling screen, the update had succeeded and they were on the 18.X version.

Mine is 17.43.01 still so we'll see what happens. They really should just post the update online for people to flash on their own.

With all the trouble this OTA (and basically every one they have ever tried to push) has caused, Im pretty sure this one will become downloadable soon enough as well.

Apparently the dealer has no way of getting the update either, the only thing they can do is pull the fuse in this case. I could probably do a factory reset on the radio and see how that goes.

I wonder if it is failing some check during the update. In my case, I updated my maps two months ago so I wonder if that is screwing up the update since the nav related checksums won't match. I would not be surprised if they did not account for people having updated nav loaded.

From what Ive seen so far, its literally an update only for the Sierra Wireless card that helps with GPS to fix the week rollover that is about to happen.

Usually OTA updates are just "differential" so its not a whole new system download (which would be about 1.2GB), but rather a "patch" of sorts.....after looking at an update log file from when I manually updated my truck to 17.43.01, at least the full installer is smart enough to know if it needs to even bother updating things....it will skip parts of the install if the new version matches the old version, etc.

Back to the OTA....I would think it doesnt even bother touching maps, etc because it should just be a firmware flash for the Sierra card.

My guess is the Sprint network sucks (it does), coverage and reliability are spotty at best so you could end up with a partial or corrupted download, the update attempts to install it and cant but instead of gracefully failing you just end up in a "need to update" loop.

Crappy software from a crappy "software company". FWIW Apple had to update iPhone 4/4S for this same issue (it looks like it uses the same chip as our nav units) and you didn't hear about any problems with their update!

^ Yep. I know I am going to have issues with this. I pretty much have no coverage with most networks at my house. Verizon is the best in my area but I still need an extender at the house to use my phone reliably. If I drive into to town where there is coverage I am usually not there very long.

Well I guess there’s no hope for my bricked Uconnect. OTA 17.43.01 ruined mine and now it’s stuck on red “please insert USB into port to perform update” but when I go to UCONNECT website it says my vehicle is up to date and won’t let me download any software. Does anyone have any links or know where I can re download an older UCONNECT version to try to flash mine? My radio will occasionally turn on randomly out of nowhere and work fine for a day or two but it only turns on maybe once every 2-3 months but as soon as I turn off truck it goes back to being bricked. UCONNECT told me they couldn’t help me, RAM said it wasn’t covered in my extended warranty even tho I bought the truck used 1 month prior with 39K on dash. So if anyone can point me to any UCONNECT software I would much appreciate it.
