TRANSMISSION QUESTION.

i have this old 1988 w/. 5.2L V8 yes 5.2L in a D250 flat bed truck .. 99% WERE 360's but not mine. SO Mine has the straight 727 trans in it.
I think I've stumbled onto 2 MORE TRUCK & Durango that might both have the Over Drive trans in them .. SO THE 1ST ONE.
1st One is a d150 pick-up & I'm hoping it's a 1994 or 95 ... It's in someones back yard & I'm not brave enough to go stomping into their yard to look, of course it may be up to 99 OR SO. I believe those trans are A518 .. But I'm recalling that that trans will bolt right into my 1988 .. & THEN I can have overdrive. With a little Toggle switch work . & AN Overhaul on the trans.

...2nd question I also spotted an old 90's Durango gas. If this Durango is a 5.2L WOULDN'T THIS BE THE CORRECT o/d trans .. Someone has told me that the Durango trans won't have the correct Flywheel to fit behind my 5.2L 1988 TRUCK.
i BELIEVE if it just needs the Durango starter then get the starter off the Durango & use it on my pickup.
If I get either the Truck or the Durango I'll be buying them so I'll have them complete. With all the parts I need.

.......SO CAN SOMEONE SCHOOL ME ON THESE 2 TRANSMISSIONS .. I'VE BEEN away from Chrysler for too many years now ..

I'm pretty sure you will have to have your driveshaft modified. I was contemplating putting a 518 in my 1987 D150 and I was told the driveshaft would have to be shortened.

I believe you need the 90-95 trans, otherwise you need a computer to shift it.

Agreed on the OD trans being longer.
