My son called me the other evening and said the truck died, I live about 70 miles away.
I gave him my '97 gasser when I bought my "new" 2017 CTD. Anyway he said the voltmeter read about 8 volts on the dash and the "gen" light came on. He found the receipt for the alternator I bought at Autozone but it could not be read. I called Autozone to see if they could look up the warranty info using my phone # and they did. I did indeed have the lifetime warranty for the alternator which it turns out I bought in 2011.
We had to pull it in the dark using lights and rush to the store before they closed and luckily they had one in stock and we were out the door for $0.00 Awesome!
Otherwise it would have been $144.95, ouch.
The truck now has about 285,000+ miles on it and still going, original engine and trans.
