Trying to backup with tailgate open.

I went to buy a new mattress. It fit in the bed if I left the tailgate down. I went to back out of the spot I got a loud warning horn and the brake locked up making impossible to backup. My question is there a way to over ride this safety feature?

Go into menu and turn off park sense, I believe.

My 21 BTS with 12" screen has a toggle under the screen to shut park sensors off

Turn off the rear parking sensors.
