Hey all,

I'm looking to use my ram to tow a decent sized car for quite a distance (around 4000 lbs). Has anyone towed with this model and what tips would you recommend? I looked at Uhaul and they stated it wasn't advisable to tow with my truck.

Thanks!

Car trailers put a lot of weight on the hitch, probably over your payload capacity. If uhaul won't rent the trailer, not much you can do. Their car transport trailers weigh 2200 pounds and adding a 4k car you are at 6200, and they want the tow vehicle to weigh at least 80% of the combined trailer weight and have a hitch rated to at least 5k pounds. If you are using a dolly, the car is over the max weight allowed.

Oh that makes sense. Thank you! I guess theoretically if I were to add weights to my truck to meet the 80% threshold it would work. Not saying it would work, but just a thought.
