My radio screen says "Vehicle Phone Needs Service". 2014 1500 Sport. Lost steering wheel controls, SD card read, Bluetooth capability and Sirius radio. Only am/fm operable. Have done soft reset, hard reset and spoke with Uconnect. Software up to date. Dealer has no clue what's wrong. Wants to try replacing modules at my cost. Anybody run into this problem?

Read this post, knowing that i know little about this subject

I believe the reason for that message, is that the

3G sierra wireless card modem
The vehicle phone is actually a part of the radios printed circuit board
It uses the vehicles VIN as its identification

1685311898637.png

The buttons on your mirror, 911 an Assist are part of the vehicle phone
The vehicle phone modem is how you receive satellite updates

Warning;
when the dealerships try to repair this fault
If everything works well that is radio controlled, AM/FM, Steer Wheel controls & buttons, etc.
During the repair, the whole radio may get bricked, then it is worthless.

some owners just want the message to go away & don't want the vehicle phone, just want it disconnected

I have no comment about this write up:

The only thing that has "changed" on the vehicle within the last 6mos is, I replaced the OEM puddle lights with aftermarket LED puddle lights on the mirrors, which now give an error message and blink quickly. Think that may be a cause???

I just started to get this message this past week. I assume I can ignore it? Last thing I want to do is go to the dealer. My radio did seem to reboot today. Everything was dark then after a few minutes the display and A/C buttons lit up properly. Still getting the periodic message.

I installed an 8.4 in my SLT and have been getting this message on an intermittent, but consistent basis. Is it because the VIN hasn't been set in the radio? I have the 3G dongle from M2 Mods installed. How can I turn it off?

It may be that since 3G no longer works..
You may need to update to 4G Lite

Check to see what your cell phone operates at ...

3G , 4G Lite , or

My cell phone operates on 5G, what does that have to do with the vehicle phone? How do I get 4G lite in the truck?
