Just wondering .... Has anyone used Felpro head gaskets on their 5.7 Hemi" If so, how are they standing up? They are a much better price point than Mopar gaskets.
I still believe that it is an oil supply issue that is most damaging to the cam. I have a block here in my garage that lost the cam. I have been slowly studying it and the main oil gallery from the pump has a thick almost lubriplate consistency. When I pulled the front main bolt, it would not...
I worked on them enough to know that I didn't want one, and certainly do not want to work on them but then again, I do not like European cars to start with.
Now that Chrysler is sold out to Stellantis, I just might find myself going over to the dark side. I once had a Ford Ranger and while it...
Algae in gasoline usually starts in long term storage situations. Typically, we used to find the algae growing in the boundary layer between the gasoline and the water in the tank. But this was in storage tanks.
I cut my filters and also use a drain plug magnet. I still have a lifter problem. I'm debating on what course of action is next ..... Rebuild the engine in my garage OR put a cam and lifters in my existing engine.
I got one recently from flagship and it seems to be OK. Took a while to ship to Canada and their shipping cost was horrible but other than that I can't say much bad about it. Oh, actually a couple of things.... the Vin from the original vehicle as well as the mileage both are still visible.
Looking for info on who makes a decent data recorder. Something like the old COPILOT or the Launch X431. Something that can capture live data to be played back later on a laptop. My old X431 died.
Thanks.
Launch has their Crecorder CRP 123 but it isn't much good. It essentially does similar to...
Don't bother wasting money on new manifolds, take your old ones to a decent machine shop and get them resurfaced. I did that about 3 years ago and it solved the problem. It is only a matter of time for new manifolds to warp because the casting has internal stresses. Old manifolds, by virtue of...
Yup! It is cheaper in the long run to pay for a bit of warranty on the early failures than it is to do any re-engineering!
That is what it boils down to is money.
If you are going with a cam and lifters, change the oi pump as well. also check the oil galleries for sludge. If it has any buildup of sludge, clean the oil galleries. I've seen a buildup on a couple of engines now. I would not do a cam replacement with the engine in the truck rather out on a...
I would go with flushing the trans twice. the initial drain and refill plus one more. The way that I look at it, a few hundred dollars in oil and filters is much more cost effective than a multi thousand transmission tear down. If you win on the flushing, you are clearly money ahead.
the...
First off, fix the leak. If it was mine, I'd run some powder or liquid dishwasher detergent in the cooling system with just water as a coolant. I would do this a couple of times. I would also flush everything including the heater until the water comes out clean.
As for the transmission, I would...
