2024 Ram 2500 diesel Tire Choice

Hi all,
Just bought my first Ram. New to forum. I looked at several previous posts but none fit my question. I need to choose a set of new tires. Maybe (Cooper Evolution MT 295/70r18)???
2024 RAM 2500 diesel, Laramie, bright white, leveled, bushwhacker painted fender flairs.
I tow a travel trailer once in a while, avid hunter, logging roads are frequently traveled, I am usually forced to install chains a couple of hunting trips.
Didn’t plan on using it for a daily driver but damn, I can’t get out of it. Absolutely no regrets buying this RAM. First new truck for me. Can’t believe I waited until retirement.
I want to make sure I will have clearance for chains on brake lines, not rub, but not look funny with the bushwhacker fender flairs.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Stay with a stock size tire, Toyo has a good MT tire, Falken Wildpeak and BF Goodrich.

Look at the General Grabber ATx's. Same tread pattern as BFG TA/KO's, a bit less costly but wear just as well from my experience. I'll be putting them on my '22 as soon as I wear out these Firestones...just can't justify swapping them before they're worn out. The Generals are a great tire, I've been using them since the AT2's and they haven't changed much, a little louder than stock but not much, I've clawed through 5-6 inches of snow, loose sand, and even mud in 2wd, deeper mud I've needed 4wd, but they've never left me stuck anywhere.

Get the factory size replacement tires. My 2018 clears V bar chains at full turn with the stock tires. It wouldn't take much more tire to tear some stuff up at full turn with a little articulation.

I have a 2018, but the stock Firestone tires are garbage. Even after I replaced them with new firestone tires I only got a year out of the new set. Apparently they were defective.

I currently have Michelin AT tires which I am very happy with. I also spent the extra money to have them installed at a commercial truck shop. I am fine with the local tire shop for my cars, but I do not trust their work on my truck.

I thought mine were excellent. I didn't hit the wear bars until 65k miles. That's spectacular on a diesel 4x4 IMO.

I have just over 12K on my Trashstone tires and they are half wore out and they have seen little tow miles but have seen 6K miles with 1000-2300 lbs in the bed

Mine pulls / hauls stuff regularly. It's a farm truck. I guess I just got some good ones and happened to get a truck that's aligned well.

I replaced them with wrangler AT's because of all the trash reviews of the transforce AT's, and those were garbage. Never ending vibration problems. I replaced them with Bridgestone dualer AT takeoffs from an F350, and those have been really great so far.

my oem transforce tires are just about caput at 33000 miles. am thinking I will go with the falkens for mine

Bad luck maybe. I had two sets, the first set wore out after 25k miles and the steering always drifted slightly. The drift was even worse on the 2nd set. I kept thinking something was wrong with the alignment and multiple alignments later the shop realized there was something wrong with the 2nd set of tires. The 2nd set of tires were installed at a Firestone tire shop, so the install could have been wrong.

Since getting Michelin's I have not had any issues. Rims are the same as well.

my 2022 Rebel Echo-diesel came with Wrangler AT's. Not particularly fond of them, especially on wet pavement or in the rain. i pop it into 4 wheel auto and the truck performs better. additionally, i get about 7 or 8 mpg less than my nephew who has all seasons on his 2021 Ram. only 20100 on them so i have a ways to go before i get new ones on there

I also purchased a 2024 Ram much like yours. I’ve also been looking at tires. But I noticed that you said you use tire “chains”. When we bought our truck we had to sign a form saying that we were notified to NOT use chains, but use cables instead.
I’m not sure if your dealer had you sign it as well. They said that chains would cause damage that would not be covered under warranty.

I put on new tires on my 2018, 2500 4wd diesel at 35000 miles. The originals were Firestone BSW All Season tires. Not a good result. I replaced them with Michelin Defender LTX MS. Should see better mileage with these. I am mainly on the highway often pulling a car trailer. I have sold the camper.

the stocked FireStoned stunk so bad I had to go into 4wh whenever I wanted to get out of the country, slight uphill, "driveway" when it rained and the grass was wet.

Went with Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrains, but they work quickly and switched to BFG KO2 and love them

The best bang for your buck is the Cooper AT3 XLT. I have been running them since 2017 on multiple different vehicles. They have good road manners, do well off road. You need to rotate them regularly though. 295/70/18 is a nice size for our trucks and is what I’ve had on my 2020 for 100k second set. It’s fits in spare tire spot as well.
