I saw their comparison of the Ford 3.5L Eco-boost and the 3L Hurricane.
I was impressed, but that test truck wasn't a Rebel with a 3:92 rear end. It got 23MPG and handily out paced the Ford...

Besides, nobody buys a Rebel (or a Power Wagon) for the mileage...

Um, sadly no. (But the Rebel IS a lot of fun! ! !)

What's your logic behind that? 26 gallons on a 1/2 ton pickup is insufficient?
Absolutely! My Rebel has a 32 gallon tank. The difference between the 26 gallon and the 32 means I would have to go fill up weekly as opposed to my current every 10 days! ! !

(Lord, do we need a sarcasm font something bad!)

[Seriously - filling up 32 gallons is bad enough - I do not need an extra 4 gallons at $3.50+ per gallon!]

Edit - after reading some other comments, I can see the wisdom of needing the larger tank for towing. I do not do much towing so that has never been much of an issue, hence my initial comment.

Agreed. I love the 36 gallon tank in our 2014 F150. It has a range of 550 miles. I will also say the DTE estimate seems to be much more accurate on that truck than any of the Ram trucks we've owned.

Range is my biggest (and really, only) gripe with the Power Wagon. I don't really care about MPG, I care about range between fill ups and how many jerry cans I need if there are no gas stations.

Seeing a sign that says "next Buc-ee's: 320 miles" and having 280 miles of range left is one of the greatest tragedies of modern man. :disgust:

You have a 33 gallon tank actually. 5th gens come with either 23, 26, or 33 gallon tanks. 4th gens could be had with 32 gallon tanks.

That was a good video. You can see how much the lift, gears, and big tires on the rebel affected the mileage. My last truck went up a tire size and switched to a e rated tire. Boy did that kill my mileage. 3-5 mpg less usually.

I think Ford will get more than a few former Ram drivers to buy that 5.0 coyote.

I do tow with my current 1500. Nothing huge though. The 26 gallon tank is fine. I don’t have too many stretches where I have to worry about long distances between stations, though. I don’t mind stopping every 2-250 miles. Maybe when I’m retired I will do more towing and wish the tank was bigger.

I had a Titan 5.4 in my wifes 2010 F 150. Ran well, sucked at the gas pump. I had a Coyote 5.0 in my 2014 Work Truck. Ran the heck outta that motor. The biggest thing was timely oil changes, because we ran them so HARD, every 3K. I would not mind a new F 150 with the Coyote BUT, their 10 speed TRANS is a POS, see the over 500K recall ref a trans that likes to downshift at any speed down to 1st gear. Dat right there precludes any thoughts on the Ford.

I drove a Chevy and a ford before buying my latest ram. I was not impressed with the transmission on either. The ram transmission was superior.

The current recall for the transmission shifting to 1st (NHTSA # 24V444) is actually for 2014's, and happens when the molded lead frame causes an OSS failure. I have a 2014 F150 and it's scheduled for this recall later this week. It does not affect new trucks with the 10 speed transmission.

The new 10 speed Ford trannys having big issues with clutches. I cannot ref the articles now since on phone. Yup the RAM 8 speeds imho a lot better.
