The OBDLink will only give you a 15 minute session without an OBD dongle then it'll close. Demo version will not connect with dongle.

You wont regret the application purchase if you have more than 2 things to do and avoid the stealership fees.

If you have it connected to your Android it will not connect to the vehicle. Do not connect to Android if want to connect to a vehicle. It's one or the other but not both at the same time

You open Alpha and connect to your interface (MX+). Make the necessary Alfa selections (My Car, Function, etc). Then make your changes.
You may want to view the several youtubes about using Alfa

I use the Windows version of AlfaOBD but my guess is that John is suggesting you connect the MX+ to the OBD port on the installed security gateway bypass cable first.

Are you using the KaodTech security gateway bypass cable?

Once the MX+ has successfully connected to the OBD port, then connect the Android device.

Is that correct John?

MX+ is connected to OBD port on your truck/Cable, then via Bluetooth to your android device which is running AlphaOBD.

AlphaOBD reads/writes directly to computer modules in your Truck. AlphaOBD app doesn't run on Truck screen, nor will you see anything on the screen until you follow the process.

I agree with above, you should look at some youtube videos before going to far. Make sure you do back up of Truck config before making any changes.

If you make changes and forget which ones, it could be costly to fix.

2018 Ram Sport with Galaxy tablet, MX+ and kaodtech bypass, but this is what I get. Any help please.

If you connected the cable correctly, and MX+ to cable port. Verify your Android device has Bluetooth on, and can connect to MX+ device
As Sam posted just below. Don't run the app until everything is connected and truck is in "On" position.

That was the trick. Connect the obd before opening the app. I was able to turn on the cooled seats and Rear heated. I tried turning on the phone charge pad but didn't seem to work. Thanks John Jenson Ram Driver and can rebel for the help

"On" as in Acc, Ign, or engine running?

There are several tweaks that AlfaOBD indicates should be completed with the ignition in the on position but with the engine off.

As an experiment, I've made several successful adjustments without changing the ignition state from off.

Sometimes I toggle between off and on, in between adjustments, when I have several to complete.

From my tests and from the changes I've made, it doesn't seem to matter much but, I'm using a Windows laptop with a hardline USB interface.

I don't trust the Android OS, Android devices, Google, or Bluetooth devices.

My kaodtech bypass came with two different style plugs, both were white in color. One was smaller that I plugged into the green one, and the larger I plugged into the white one that is next to the green strip. I even bought a new MX+(returned the first one). The only thing I have not tried is using my phone vs my tablet, which I will try tomorrow.

Sounds correct. One should always follow the directions from where got cable/module from.

I have 4-5 different ones. I prefer ZAutomotive Module, easy to use on my 5th.

I normally use the Windows version, because I have HP Tuning software on my surface. But android version works better, I've used it on Phone and Tablet (Samsung)

In my view, JScan is better if you are using android/Apple.

I got it to work, but the first thing I wanted to look at...I think opened a big can of worms  https://www.ramforum.com/threads/2018-sport-tow-package-driver-mirror-issue.211045/

One thing to remember. Always do back up before you touch anything.

Not sure what you did to "trouble shoot"
In other post, you should add that. Cause no one will be able to help just based on that.

You can use AlphODB to check for codes, but it's not going to fix broken stuff.

1. Switch is bad
2. Cable(s) are bad
3. Mirror is bad.
4. Maybe module issue, but I doubt it.

I'd check the cables, make sure none are short, or lose. Could always check fuse but since other side works, doubtful.

Many people will tell you, including myself, don't just throw parts at things. But in this case. I'd just order new switch and matching mirror. I'd check wires first though.
Could buy them from Site vendor here on forums, Benny gives good prices and very helpful. Or get them some local dealer.

If you have equipment and knowledge, you could try trouble shooting it first.
